Nice act by loving couple on and off screen
6 April 2010
The two leading actors in this film, Derek Yee (Erh Tung-Sheng) and Candice Yu (Yu On-On,) were a real-life couple at the time, too. They had had a steady relationship for years. Some insiders believed this movie was made as a tool to promote together the up-and-coming young stars.

As love interests played by real-life couples usually creates a theatrical disaster, audiences seem to genuinely enjoy Yee and Yu as on-screen lovers. This maybe contributed by the fact that the two were being true to the title: "young" (both were in their late teen/early 20's at the time,) and thus admirable.

Except for a mild but "wet" kiss, Yee and Yu mostly portray an "innocent" love and thus hardly have any intimate scenes together. The sexual part of the storyline falls between Yee and the older courtesan, played by the beautiful and exotic Eva Lin. With Lin going all nude but Yee fully dressed in all the sex scenes as perhaps a way to protect his young imagine, it does strike a little odd. Some critics, therefore, agree that Yee should have perhaps gone a step further and bare some nudity, too.
