This episode of Miami Vice provides Crockett and Tubbs with a change of scenery, heading to the sweaty Everglades to find an informant that got away before his testimony that would put a drug dealer behind bars. Their informant, Bramlette(Keith Szarabajka) fled Miami to his Everglades home because his daughter had been kidnapped by those who work for the Colombian he plans to testify against. So, with the court hearing on the horizon, Crockett and Tubbs will join forces with Bramlette, his family and friends in a major coup de grace, engaging with those in cahoots with the Colombians, as a shipment of weed was to be delivered at dawn, hoping to secure the kidnapped girl in the process. John Pankow(To Live and Die in LA)has a supporting part as one of the kidnappers, Floyd Higgins, and Margaret Whitton(Major League)is Bramlette's wife, Cassie. The novelty of this particular episode is the unusual environment for which Crockett and Tubbs find themselves, helping out Florida hicks and plotting how in the world they are to shake down a well guarded plantation with limited(and untrained) help. Al Cox, as old-timer Clem, is a hoot, particularly with his muzzle-loader(the "gator-getter")that has trouble firing during the climactic shootout. The final image of Crockett and Tubbs, who are filthy, exhausted, and emotionally drained, in the courtroom is priceless..these guys just don't get paid enough for their trouble!
