Unspoken (I) (2006)
7/10
Very Interesting Art-house
5 October 2009
Unspoken, although a bit slow at times, is a very interesting film. The film is bookended by a really thought provoking montage of images driven by an equally interesting monologue. The acting throughout was relatively strong. It was nice to see a veteran like William Sadler show up and he definitely had some memorable moments. His desire to appear in such a small film such as this goes to show that there are still some artists left in Hollywood. The three main characters kept me watching, particularly Justin Allen who I hope to see work more in the future. Although some technical elements came up short I thought the film was worth the watch if you appreciate dark and unusual film-making. Unspoken stuck with me after I finished it. It's too bad there's no commentary on this one as I'd be curious to hear the filmmaker's insight into it.
