The movie opens with an obese Indian man sitting at the bar drinking shots after shots of alcohol until his eyes turned bloodshot red. the scene was shot hand-held so it gives a feeling as though you're personally there witnessing it yourself and its easy to judge him as a drunk, obese, dangerous man.
yet as the story goes on his vulnerability and his sorrows are all exposed and in the end you'll see him "stripped down" of all the initial stereotypes you had earlier formed. he's just a man who longs to reconnect with his son who he had neglected because he had been too busy drowning himself in sorrow.
i caught this alone in the cinemas and in the privacy of the dark theatre, i caught myself unabashedly tearing. heart-wrenching but filled with hope in the end.
