Bheema - Spoiler Warning
21 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I do not know what all the fuss is about , yes Bheema is a good movie but it's not Shakespeare , cos I read other reviews about the movie before I could watch it and critics hailed it as such a brilliant art movie , to me it is a commercial entertainer but it is more retrained , it does have a more realistic portrayal of gangster life in Chennai but it still has commercial ingredients , the love angle which happens all too quickly as with most Tamil movies , the one man against 50 men fight scenes which are over the top but done well in most part.Do not get me wrong the movie is good , especially Vikram , Trisha and Prakash Raj , in a way it is two movies , Vikram's relationship with Prakash Raj and his romance with Trisha , the former being the mentor - student relationship , which forms the crux of the movie and is acted and played out well , the flashbacks scenes help to emphasis this, the latter relationship although like I earlier said happens too quickly is also acted well but it is also a reason for having your mandatory love songs in the movie though it is also the reason for the turning point in the movie and a very different ending I must say.All in all a good entertainer with a more realistic approach but still not forgetting the key commercial ingredients , Vikram does shine here and Prakash Raj and Trisha help him do that.
