The Class (2006–2007)

Nees a little more effort...
3 February 2007
Well as everyone knows, this sitcom is brought to us by the same people who made "Friends". You can identify similatries between both shows immediately. That's not something bad because the humor is fresh and makes some references for actual events from modern society.

Anyways, "The Class" has big potential to become a historical sitcom. I mean, the kind of show that can last for many seasons and become more than a cult t.v. show. But in order to achieve that, it needs to get better in some aspects. For example, the acting is sometimes over the top when it isn't necessary. The dialogs are somehow performed without caring some details like the adequate timing or camera angles. Heck, even some jokes are performed with such apathy that you don't care about them. That makes the show to be boring and dull.

Some of the actors look very annoying. The clichès displayed by some characters are lame, and exaggerated.

The cast is very good but lacks of a sparkle or special charm. Andrea Anders is great on her role. She does what she has to do. Sean Maguire who is one actor I like a lot, looks uncomfortable in his "gay" role. It looks like he hates his character. He's not funny and looks over the top. Jason Ritter is a fine actor but he isn't funny. He looks tense and nervous. John Bernthal is probably my favorite actor from this show; he has a fresh attitude and looks very comfort with his role.

Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Tyler Ferguson steal the show in my opinion. Lizzy is sassy, sexy, hot and has a great charm. She's the most fun and interesting character. Plus, her look and looks ;) are great. Jesse Tyler is a revelation. He's not attractive at all (that's what girls say yo) but he's funny and his dramatic skills are impressive. I mean, for a sitcom he does a lot more than what you can ask for.

Lucy Punch is awkward and boring. I don't like her character at all. She's not even funny and these kind of shows NEED to be funny and have fresh characters. Sam Harris on the other side, is extremely clichèd but at least he's funny as the super gay character. Sara Gilbert also does what she can. Christian de la Fuente is also a recurring character and delivers a fine performance; I liked him on "Hidden Hills".

So , this show needs to improve on some aspects. Specially on character development. It has the potential to become something big, and memorable. I like the charm between Richie and Lina, also the Kat and Duncan characters are likable. So, with a few corrections this will get better. Remember what I say...
