Helen of Troy (2003)
Good miniseries... but not quite
3 March 2004
As people have mentioned in their comments, it lacks on details. Particularly on how the movie makes people side with the Trojans rather than the Greeks. The movie made the Greeks look like stupid war crazy idiots, although it was great how they made Agamemnon a despicable villain. Still... details details!

And Paris. Why is Paris suddenly the more skillful warrior than Hektor? Hektor jumps around and ends up staked to death by Achilles (aka WWF wrestler) just like that. Achilles is not that dumb, and Hektor is a great warrior. Where are the heroic scenes which Homer gorgeously crafted? Where are the gods? Why does Helen look like Claire Danes-Meredith Monroe? Why does Paris look like a young Warren Beatty?

And why god WHY are there endless scenes with people's asses?? (Helen, Agamemnon, Achilles)

Then again, the world is not perfect and this is just a made for TV. So I'm giving it a break. The only thing I liked about it is the set and production itself. Oh, and James Callis (Meneleus). And that guy who played Theseus. But all in all, it's a pretty far-fetched movie. For accuracy, I give it 4/10. For entertainment, I give it 8/10.
