I thought that Gang Tapes was an excellent, controversial and unrelenting look at the LA gang culture that doesn't apologize for it's reality. I read an article in LA Times Magazine that said with the exception of "Alonzo," the cast is made up of all former and still "in the life" gang members and that movie was mostly improvised by the cast. I thought that it kicked up the level of authenticity a few notches. My assessment is that this film isn't for everyone...but for those who want to watch a realistic gang film from the safety of their own homes, Gang Tapes is a great rental!!
