Review of Quiz Whizz

Quiz Whizz (1958)
Amazingly good for a Besser short
5 July 2001
This is one of Besser's best shorts with the stooges, one thing that may have helped was the return of writer Searle Kramer who wrote some classic Curly shorts back in the 1930s. The short contains many funny gags and a scene with Joe Besser that even people who typically stay away from Besser shorts will want to see bad. Even though Larry once again gets way more of Moe's wrath than Joe, it is still good. But the stooges look a little too old to be disguising as children, because Larry and Joe were in their 50s and Moe was 60 during filming. Plus, Joe is once again a whiner like usual. Overall: B-
