Poll: Force Awakens - remake, soft reboot or homage?

It is no secret that Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) borrows heavily from the original Star Wars trilogy, especially from the first film. Even the director/writer admitted it, and once you start comparing them, the list of similarities becomes huge. So, with that in mind, what do you think The Force Awakens is - a remake, a soft reboot, or a homage?

Rony Bridges, Mark Beautement, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, and Steven F Thompson in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

    It is a REMAKE/REHASH

The story has many major plot points taken from the old Star Wars films, which makes this film unoriginal. It was probably done as a ''safe bet'', because the studio Disney didn't want to risk it with the new material (like the prequels did), so they basically gave us another Star Wars: A New Hope.

  2. Vote!

Lupita Nyong'o and Daisy Ridley in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

    It is a SOFT REBOOT

This is a film for the new generation of young fans. That's why the film makers took the best elements from the original trilogy, so that the new kids who maybe haven't seen the old films can experience the most memorable parts of Star Wars, while being introduced to that franchise with this movie.

  3. Vote!

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

    It is a HOMAGE/TRIBUTE

The film makers are clearly Star Wars fans, so this is a film for the fans, by the fans - originality aside.
