Poll: Who's that "Gueule"?
The French word "Gueule" usually referring to an animal's mouth, is also used to define a mug, an ugly or intimidating one, nothing really pleasant to look at anyway. But in French Cinema, the word has become a 'term of endearment' describing a face exuding a natural charisma whether for its rugged beauty, its intimidating look or some unique oddity.
So if Norma Desmonds said, "we had faces," a French nostalgic movie lover would say, "we had some 'gueules'" and he would be right because the early generations of French actors (debuts before 1960) were full of these 'gueules'. So, which one would you say is or was the most cinematically appealing?
