I don’t usually cover shorts, I always seem to have more features to review than I do time, but I had to make an exception for The Shepherd. I remembered reading Frederick Forsyth’s novella when I was growing up, and a reading of it by the late Al Maitland has been a Christmas tradition on CBC radio since 1979. So, telling myself that since The Academy considers forty minutes to be feature length I finally used the Disney+ subscription my wife got us and checked it out.
Freddie is an Raf pilot stationed in Germany who wishes he was home for the holidays. He sees his chance when a fellow pilot is injured and can’t make his scheduled flight to England. Despite only recently qualifying...

After months of speculation regarding Ufc’s upcoming historic card, the show is finally starting to come together. The mixed martial arts community has been overrun with conjecture from pundits, fighters and fans regarding what bouts would take place at the landmark show, and on March 30th those questions began being answered thanks to the announcement of several confirmed fights.
Main eventing the milestone event will be the rematch between Conor McGregor (19-3) and Nate Diaz (19-10), which will once again take place in the welterweight division. The fight will go down around four months after their Ufc 196 showdown which saw the two square off on short notice after 155 pound champion Rafael Dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from his title defense against McGregor due to injury. Diaz went on to finish Conor in convincing fashion, submitting the current featherweight titlist in the second round.

As is always the case, a TV series about a little princess has proven to be extraordinarily popular with our children, leading to Disney Junior’s Sofia the First being renewed for a second season. Personally, I thought the children’s series could use a little more draw for young lads, maybe toss in a ninja prince or something equally appealing to the male gender. But that would only be a good idea if Sofia the First wanted to completely ignore its target audience and it’s a good thing it didn’t – it’s the number one TV show for kids 2-5. You just can’t beat numbers like that.
Interestingly enough, Sofia the First is, according to the Hollywood Reporter, the top show for both girls and boys in the demographic, as well as in total viewers, particularly in women 18-49. What this means is parents feel comfortable...
