Original The Good Doctor cast member Chuku Modu is once again a series regular on the ABC medical drama, playing Dr. Jared Kalu.
Modu, who originally returned midway through last season as a recurring, has been promoted to regular for the upcoming seventh season, now in production.
Modu’s surgical resident Dr. Jared Kalu was a breakout character in Season 1. He got into trouble for punching a doctor who had sexually harassed his girlfriend, resident Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) and ultimately headed to Colorado for a surgeon job.
Kalu eventually left that job to become a concierge doctor, which is how he ended up back at San Jose’s St. Bonaventure Hospital. He ended up sticking around his old stumping grounds.
The full-time return of Modu, first reported by TVLine, follows the exit of fellow original Good Doctor cast member Will Harper who is running for Senate. Brandon Larracuente also...

Osvaldo Benavides, who recently was promoted to series regular on ABC’s medical drama The Good Doctor, is exiting the show, sources have confirmed to Deadline.
Benavides, who plays Dr. Mateo Rendón Osma, joined the series as a guest star in the two-part Season 4 finale and was subsequently promoted to series-regular status at the beginning of Season 5.
In his initial episode, Benavides’ Mateo met the San Jose St. Bonaventure team and was assisting them with the surgical mission in Guatemala. He later struck up a romantic relationship with St. Bonaventure’s chief of surgery Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang). Mateo was hired as a new surgeon at St. Bonaventure at the beginning of Season 5, but because of ongoing legal issues was under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper). His initial character description revealed that “some rash actions during his residency will be back to haunt him and could complicate things.

Shamier Anderson is the titular "Stowaway"
One common trope in space movies is daddy issues. Whether it involves trying to find one’s dad in space or a sad father dealing family issues, as this 2019 Vulture article points out, it's a constant in outer-space movies. That's been especially true of this last decade with First Man, Interstellar, Ad Astra, and Netflix’s very recent space venture The Midnight Sky. But a surprise development! The new space movie Stowaway, from writer/director Joe Penna, is the rare film to abandon that trend altogether. The central quartet have struggles but not one of them is a daddy issue.
Commander Marina Barnett (Toni Collette), botanist David Kim (Daniel Dae Kim), and medical researcher Zoe Levensen (Anna Kendrick) barely touch on their respective home lives as they make their way to Mars for a two-year space mission...

Despite the trailer leaning into the sci-fi horror vibe, Netflix's Stowaway turned out to be a heart-wrenching thriller examining just how far someone will go to save a life. But, I'm not going to lie: the entire premise of Stowaway is bleak, and the ambiguous ending leaves you wanting more.
Shortly after takeoff, the crew of a two-year mission to Mars - captain Marina Barnett (Toni Collette), biologist David Kim (Daniel Dae Kim), and medical researcher Zoe Levenson (Anna Kendrick) - discover they've been joined by an accidental stowaway, launch support engineer Michael Adams (Shamier Anderson). Unsure of how he ended up unconscious on the ship and wanting to go home, Michael reveals that his last memories are of preparing the Hyperion ship for takeoff.
Soon the crew discovers that Michael's fall through the ceiling inadvertently damaged the Cdra, which scrubs the ship of carbon dioxide beyond repair. This...

Photo: ‘Stowaway’/Netflix Taking place almost entirely within the claustrophobic confines of the fictional “Kingfisher” spacecraft, much of ‘Stowaway’ plays out like a one-location drama as the crew of a three-person mission to Mars discovers an uninvited fourth. There’s a number of directions that the premise could go in, and ‘Stowaway’ teases at them all--what it ultimately settles on, however, is exploring the interpersonal turmoil that arises within the crew when confronted with the grim cost of their greater survival. As Joe Penna’s “Stowaway” blasts off to Mars in its opening moments, we quickly learn the archetypes of the anxious astronaut trio at its center: Dr. Zoe Levenson (Anna Kendrick) is the energetic one, Commander Marina Barnett (Toni Collette) is the cooly collected one, and Dr. David Kim (Daniel Dae Kim) is the quiet one. Bound together by their mutual intellect and excitement for their two-year mission, they make a solid team. Everything is going just fine — except, that is, for the unexpected fourth member of their mission, an unconscious and injured stranger (Shamier Anderson), stuck up inside a vital piece of machinery and dripping blood onto the space station floor.
Such is the fascinating conceit of “Stowaway,”
The film’s opening act is an impressive one, with Penna only improving upon the skills that made his last feature, the similarly chilling adventure drama “Arctic,” such a riveting watch.

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the movie Searching.
Starring the venerable John Cho and Debra Messing, Searching is one of the twistiest thrillers you'll ever come across. Just imagine a modern-day Hitchcock project that occurs entirely on a computer screen interface. In the film, David Kim, an anguished widowed father, launches a full-fledged internet investigation to figure out what happened to his missing 16-year-old daughter, Margot. While working on his own theories, he gets help from his brother Peter and Detective Rosemary Vick. But, of course, things are not as they seem.
Anyone who made it to the end of Searching will surely appreciate the twists, plants, and buildup that the filmmakers use to create suspense and a logical narrative. Still, even the shrewdest internet sleuths may overlook or glaze over some of the cleverly hidden clues in Searching that point to the shocking reveal of what happens to Margot.

“The Nun” is heading for a scary-good opening weekend, with an estimated $50 million from 3,876 domestic sites.
The Warner Bros. gothic horror flick earned $20.2 million from 60 international markets Friday, bringing its overseas cume to $32.1 million. Should the opening estimate hold, “The Nun” will mark the “Conjuring” universe’s best debut.
Earlier estimates had placed “The Nun” in a lower range between $36 million and $45 million. 2013’s “The Conjuring” had previously held the best North American opening of the franchise with $41.9 million, eventually accumulating $137 million domestically.
Taissa Farmiga stars in the “Conjuring 2” spin-off as a young novitiate who is sent to Romania in 1952 along with a priest (Demián Bichir) to investigate the mysterious suicide of a nun at a convent. Corin Hardy directed the film from Gary Dauberman’s script. “The Nun” has earned mixed reviews, with praise for its atmosphere and performances but criticism for its reliance on jump scares. It’s...
