Starring Eric Carlesi, Philippe Allier, Stéphane Asensio Directed by Benjamin Combes It’s no exaggeration to say that Commando Ninja, which can be viewed here, is soaked with ’80s nostalgia. ‘Soaked’ might not even be the right word. This is a film which drips ‘80s nostalgia out of its eyeballs. It comes as no surprise to […] The post Commando Ninja Review – A Fun And Brutal 1980s Throwback appeared first on Dread Central.

I’ve got a ridiculously entertaining film here for you to watch today called Commando Ninja. If you’ve enjoyed films such as Kung Fury and Turbo Kid, you’re most likely going to enjoy the hell out of this!
The movie was directed by Benjamin Combes, who raised over $36,000 on Kickstarter to develop the film. Here’s some info on the director and the project:
In early 2016, after a decade directing trailers at Ubisoft, Fan-Films for YouTube and Indie Short Films, Benjamin Combes, a young French Director is kicking into high gear with Commando Ninja, an ambitious Action-Comedy feature, tribute to the 80’s Blockbusters like Predator, Rambo, Mad Max… The project raised 32,000 euros on Kickstarter, thanks to the huge sharing of the B-Movie Underground community, and especially from David Sand-berg, the director of Kung Fury.
As far as the story goes, this is the synopsis that was released:

Are you ready for a little present to warm the cockles of your heart? Because Benjamin Combes has got one for you, oh, yes he does. It was back in March that we first wrote about writer-director Combes and his homage to cheesy 80s action movies Commando Ninja. Both of these things are amazing, he reasoned, so why not put them together? And that's what he was doing. At the time Combes was crowdfunding money to complete a 45 minute short film but the crowdfund went so damn well - because, y'know, it's about a Commando Ninja - that he has now expanded it out to over an hour and is sharing it online for free! At least for a limited time. Commando Ninja is...

As Benjamin Combes' homage to 80s action beefcake cinema Commando Ninja comes together in post Screen Anarchy has been sent a batch of behind the scenes stills. Up to now most of these have been largely unseen outside of backers rewards during the project's crowdfunding campaign. Ten photos, half from Vietnam and half from some sort of post apocalyptic wasteland will be found, along with a couple teasers, below. The story follows a Vietnam Green Beret Vet, Half Commando, Half Ninja, whose daughter has been abducted by a secret Ninja Organization, led by a Central-American dictator, who wants to create a new-world order... through time... The production team behind Commando Ninja is starting to strategize their festival run into 2019. We will keep you posted...

With one week to go, the crowdfunding campaign for Banjamin Combes' Commando Ninja is already successful having already met its first goal. So why bring it up? Well, this delirious homage to everything we love about 80s beefcake action cinema, the films that launched the careers of action heroes like Arnold, Sylvester and Chuck, looks to be the right amount of simulated violence and crazy. You may still want to contribute to the project and help it meet a stretch goal or two. Commando Ninja is an 80's action comedy, tribute to the Action Hero Movies, written and directed by Benjamin Combes.
