“Wonder Woman 1984” divided critics and audiences and ignited outrage against director Patty Jenkins from certain sections of the fandom when it opened in theaters and on HBO Max last Christmas. The reception to the comic book sequel was a blow for Jenkins and Warner Bros., whose original “Wonder Woman” was celebrated around the world as a game-changing superhero tentpole. In a new interview with Den Of Geek, Connie Nielsen reasons part of the backlash against “Wonder Woman 1984” was created by the film’s numerous release delays. Nielsen stars as Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira in both of Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” films.
“I think that Patty has this extraordinary vision,” Nielsen said. “And it must have been incredibly painful to not be able to have a normal release and to have your release shuffled over and over, feeling this enormous weight on your shoulders for a pretty big blockbuster film,...

We’re yet to see how ‘Wonder Women’ director, Patty Jenkins has followed up the phenomenal success of her 2017 DC outing, but Jenkins has hinted at a more contemporary setting for a possible third offering for the Amazonian superhero.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Jenkins was quick to mention that, as yet, she is not committed to a third film but if she was to return she wasn’t keen to do another period piece. The setting would definitely be set in the present day.
“I’m not set, but I’m not dying to do another period piece. I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down.

Just as Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” was opening in theaters to critical and commercial success, Joss Whedon’s 2006 script for the film leaked online. The June 2017 leak didn’t go well for the “Avengers” director, who received backlash for writing what many believed to be a sexist Wonder Woman story.
Whedon’s version took place in modern day and was accused of focusing more on Diane Prince’s male co-star, Steve Trevor, than the hero herself. Whedon, however, stands by his script, defending it in an interview Vanity Fair at the premiere of “Avengers: Infinity War.” Nearly one year after the scrip leak, Whedon still has a hard time understanding which parts of his script caused problems with readers.
“I don’t know which parts people didn’t like but I went and re-read the script after I heard there was a backlash. I think it’s great,” Whedon said.
