It was a clean sweep for Taylor Swift at the 2024 Gold Derby Music Awards. She came into our fourth annual event with nine nominations and walked away with nine victories including Artist of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Watch the announcement video above for winners in all categories, and scroll down for the complete list.
In the history of the GDMAs thus far, Swift is the only artist who has won Artist of the Year. She’s also the only artist who has won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. But her Album of the Year victory for “Midnights” is only her second in that race. She previously won in 2021 for “Folklore,” but Lana Del Rey claimed that honor in 2022 for “Chemtrails Over the Country Club” and Beyonce prevailed in 2023 for “Renaissance.”

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
You might think that Taylor Swift would dominate in this category, but she has just one win out of four nominations. It’s likely that voters think of Swift as so strong in the general fields that they don’t mark their ballot for her here. Miley Cyrus has a good shot, but her smash hit...

Two of the best films of the year also happen to feature two of the best soundtracks of the year and as each enters a wide release today, the scores are now available to stream in full. Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City boasts an epic soundtrack of 25 songs amounting to over 70 minutes, featuring Alexandre Desplat, Jarvis Cocker, Big Crosby, Les Paul, Burl Ives, Tex Ritter, Les Baxter, and many more.
Then, Grizzly Bear’s Christopher Bear and Daniel Rossen reunited to score Celine Song’s debut Past Lives, clocking in at 16 tracks around 40 minutes, also including the end credits track “Quiet Eyes” by Sharon Van Etten and Zachary Dawes. “What a pleasure it was to score this film with [Rossen] and make music I feel very connected with,” said Bear. “Celine Song is a force and had such incredible vision and execution.”

Sharon Van Etten has shared “Quiet Eyes,” her contribution to the soundtrack to Celine Song’s new A24 film Past Lives. Check it out below.
Written and performed alongside Zachary Dawes, “Quiet Eyes” feels like a lost 1960s girl group ballad thanks to its cinematic percussion and sweeping strings. In the song, Van Etten describes “mosaic faces fading in the rain” before wondering, “Is this really a mystery life? We’re running from our own mistakes.” It’s the type of theatrical writing you’d expect for a song soundtracking a romance movie in which old friends reconnect decades after first meeting.
In addition to Van Etten’s new original song, the Past Lives soundtrack features a score by Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and Christopher Bear. So far, the artists have shared the songs “Why Are You Going to New York” and “Across the Ocean;” the full soundtrack arrives June 9th via A24 Music,...

Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and Christopher Bear have announced that the soundtrack they’ve made for Celine Song’s upcoming A24 film, Past Lives, will be released on June 9th via A24 Music. They’ve also shared two singles from the project, “Why Are You Going to New York” and “Across the Ocean.”
Open, airy, subtle, and melodic, both “Why Are You Going to New York” and “Across the Ocean” speak to the musicianship Rossen and Bear have been demonstrating since Grizzly Bear first hit the scene nearly 20 years ago. They embrace a familiar, acoustic production palette as well — listening to the songs, it’s easy to feel like you’re in a big, open room with the musicians, engulfed by the pianos and strings as sunlight pours in through the windows.

Lana Del Rey dropped her ninth studio album on March 24. Called “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.,” it’s produced by Del Rey herself along with Mike Hermosa, Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji. But what do critics think of the 77-minute collection of songs behind that verbose title?
As of this writing “Did You Know” has a MetaCritic score of 80 based on 13 reviews counted thus far: 11 reviews are classified as positive, and two are somewhat mixed, but none are outright negative. That’s a few points above her career average of 76, but it’s on par with her last two releases: “Chemtrails Over the Country Club” (81) and “Blue Banisters” (80). Based on early listens, though, its user score is through the roof, with over 200 fans rating the album with an average of 9.7 out of 10.

Lana Del Rey’s new album Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd is out now via Interscope and Polydor Records. Stream it below
First announced last December, the album is Del Rey’s ninth full-length offering, and first since she dropped two records in 2021, Chemtrails Over the Country Club and Blue Banisters. Returning to a sound and vibe more akin to her earlier work — particularly 2019’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! — Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd is another vehicle for the 37-year-old’s signature neo-Americana storytelling.
Produced by Jack Antonoff alongside Mike Hermosa, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji, the album features more collaborations than a typical Del Rey release. Antonoff’s band Bleachers, Father John Misty, Jon Batiste, Tommy Genesis, and celebrity pastor Judah Smith all make appearances.
In her review, Consequence’s Mary Siroky writes: “Ultimately, for another sonically cohesive record,...

Nepo daddy Rob Grant has announced his debut album, Lost at Sea, out June 9th via Decca Records. As a preview, the self-described “accidental recording artist” and father of Lana Del Rey has shared the first single, “Setting Sail on a Distant Horizon.”
Lost at Sea features two appearances from Del Rey (born Elizabeth Grant) as well as production from Jack Antonoff, Zach Dawes, and Laura Sisk, a Grammy-winning sound engineer who’s worked with the likes of Taylor Swift, Lorde, and P!Nk.
Pre-orders for Lost at Sea are ongoing. See the artwork and tracklist below.
“Setting Sail on a Distant Horizon” is a piano instrumental inspired by “the happiness and freedom” Grant has felt while setting sail to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard from Newport, Rhode Island in his 25-foot sloop Erewhon.

Lana Del Rey is back with an epic seven-minute song, “A&w,” from her upcoming ninth album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, out March 24 via Interscope.

Growing up is about learning from your mistakes. Part of that process is, of course, making those mistakes in the first place. The new movie Big Time Adolescence leans into this aspect of the coming of age story with a surprising amount of effectiveness. On the surface, this Sundance Film Festival alumni appeared like an independent vehicle for Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson. Instead, it’s more than that, deftly mixing comedy and drama to tell a rather impactful story. Moreover, it showcases some solid chops from Davidson, making his upcoming starring vehicle from Judd Apatow something to really look forward to. In true teen comedy tradition, this is about the influence on a good kid that a “bad” one has. It just happens to zig when it otherwise might have zagged. Mo (Griffin Gluck) has always looked up to Zeke (Davidson), going back to when he was...

The entertainment industry’s “unsung heroes” — as Quentin Tarantino has described Mary Ramos for her significant contribution to his entire filmography — celebrated the outstanding achievements of their peers at the 10th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards on Thursday night at the Wiltern. And who can blame these hardworking but vastly underpaid professionals for tooting their own horns since the Motion Picture Academy refuses to validate their work with an Oscar category? Coincidentally, the winners also helped to shine a light on critically acclaimed films featuring black casts that were snubbed by the Academy, much like music supervisors themselves.
The big news of the night: Women rock! Unlike every other Hollywood award show, the majority of winners — 10 out of 15, in fact — were female. (But then this may be the only guild that has nearly achieved gender parity among members and women outnumber men as board members.) “I met Quentin Tarantino 28 years ago and after that,...
