Many of the current generation of Asian and Pacific Islander writers working in television today came up through the Cape New Writers Fellowship, one of the most successful entry-level programs in the industry.
Now, the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment is expanding its focus to the other end of the pipeline. The Cape Showrunners Incubator, powered by Starz’s #TakeTheLead diversity initiative for its inaugural year, will draw upon the nonprofit’s experience in talent development to give upper-level Api TV scribes the mentorship and other resources they need to break through that final ceiling.
“Showrunners and creative executives are the two main drivers of what ultimately ends up on screen, and this incubator is the perfect complement to the Cape Leaders Fellowship for creative executives if we want to change the stories that are told in mainstream media,” Cape executive director Michelle K. Showrunner Keto Shimizu detailed what was planned for the Season 8 of Legends of Tomorrow that never came.
Legends of Tomorrow began life as a series about time-traveling superheroes that played things pretty straight. Then, near Season 3, Legends pivoted into a zany, madcap series about a found family who happened to have superpowers.
As part of the changes that came along with its home network, CW, getting bought out, Legends of Tomorrow was unceremoniously canceled after seven seasons on the air. Unfortunately, it was also axed on a not-insignificant cliffhanger.

It was eight years ago this week that Arrow kicked off what would be known as its “Mystery Grave” season, seeing as the opener ended with a “Six Months Later” flash-forward that saw Barry Allen arrive late for the funeral of someone clearly close to Oliver Queen.
The only clues we had to go on from that startling, minute-long stinger was that Oliver felt responsibility for whomever‘s death, and as such now was resolved “to kill him,” the person responsible for it.

The CW made a final decision for Legends of Tomorrow last week, and it was not the news fans expected.
The beloved drama series was canceled after seven seasons, and understandably, the cast is emotional about its demise.
Caity Lotz originated the role of Sara Lance on Arrow back when the show premiered in 2012.
She went on to land a lead role on Legends of Tomorrow, alongside Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Franz Drameh, Ciara Renée, Falk Hentschel, Dominic Purcell, and Wentworth Miller.
While the rest of the original cast gradually exited the series, Lotz remained a pivotal figure right up to its cancellation.
“I am bummed! I am sad, I’m going to miss it so much,” Lotz shared on Instagram of the announcement.
“I’m going to miss our amazing cast and crew. But at the same time I recognize how lucky have been to play Sara Lance for this long.

The Black Canary, aka actress Caity Lotz, has finally spoken about the cancellation of the long-running DC’s Legends of Tomorrow series by The CW before its eighth season. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has had a number of cast changes over the years. Lotz, who played Sara Lance/White Canary, was the only original cast member left from season one. The character first appeared as Black Canary on Arrow in October 2013 until the spinoff into “Legends,” which bowed in January 2016. Lotz had a late reaction to the cancellation news, as she was deeply immersed in Washington, D.C. lobbying efforts with The Creative Coalition for National Endowment for the Art funding. .
“I’m going to miss it so much,” she said in a series of Instagram Story videos. “I’m going to miss our amazing cast and crew. But at the same time I recognize how lucky have been to...

Caity Lotz is understandably sad about Legends of Tomorrow‘s cancellation after seven seasons, yet incredibly grateful to have played Sara Lance for so long.
Lotz of course first played Sara aka Black Canary on Arrow in October 2013, and was a steady presence there (brief death and all!) until The CW decided to spin the hero off into a new series that debuted in January 2016 and originally also starred Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Franz Drameh, Ciara Renée, Falk Hentschel, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller.

The waverider is being grounded for good.
Legends of Tomorrow has been canceled after seven seasons at The CW.
Co-showrunner Keto Shimizu took to social media on Friday night to reveal the sad news.
“Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no Season 8 of Legends of Tomorrow," the tweet reads.

With a week of DVR viewing factored in, the Arrowverse series builds to 860,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.
The series wrapped its run back in March, and unfortunately, there was no closure for fans, meaning that the best we can hope for is a wrap-up as part of a crossover.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will not return for an eighth season.
It marks the end of a long road for the series, which premiered in 2016.
While The CW is known for giving its longer-running series a proper goodbye, this season of Legends ended on a cliffhanger. Sources, however, pointed out that the characters can easily populate other series in the DC Arrowverse so you may see one or two of them in other shows.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 Episode 12
Finally! Booster Gold is a Legend. Wait…”who’s Booster Gold,” we hear some of you ask? Ok, fine…
Who is Booster Gold?
Only the greatest hero you’ve never heard of. Michael Jon Carter is a time traveler from the 25th Century who, as created in the pages of DC Comics by Dan Jurgens, came back to our era to seek fame and fortune with a (hopefully) lucrative superhero career. A member of several Justice League rosters, and a central figure in some of DC’s biggest stories of the last few decades. He’s also a colossal screw-up. Or…is he? Maybe that’s just an act so nobody knows the truth about his larger time-traveling mission.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow wraps up its seventh season this week with “Knocked Down Knocked Up.” After last week’s episode, you’ve probably got a guess as to what the episode title is a reference to, but in addition to possibly paying off some of the future hints given to the Legends by Evil Gideon in order to convince them to retire, this episode wraps up what many would consider the strongest season of the show. We had a chance to speak with Legends Executive Producer and Arrowverse veteran Keto Shimizu about the episode, and the show’s growth over its seven seasons.
“I think there have been some big mileposts along the way to where we are now,” she tells us. “But the team of writers that we work with, we just know these characters so well, and we’re always trying to find a way to...

Although Legends of Tomorrow has yet to be renewed, co-showrunner Keto Shimizu wants to make one thing clear: This Wednesday’s season finale (The CW, 8/7c) is in no way meant to be a series ender.
Typically by this time of year, the time-traveling drama has already been picked up for another season. But of course, the writing team must craft each finale well before it airs, so the show’s uncertain future is often just a fact of life in the TV biz. “Just because of the timing of everything, we had to just go forth and create a...

Legends of Tomorrow has tapped Scrubs alum Donald Faison for a rather mysterious role: The actor will appear in the Season 7 finale (and possibly even Season 8, if the CW drama is renewed) as an unnamed character who admires the Legends, EW.com reports.
Faison’s character is “an unauthorized time traveler with high-profile aspirations,” who is “looking for a boost that only fame, fortune, and glory can provide,” per the official description. “But the big question is whether his respect for the team is going to be able to help the Legends out of hot water or get them into hotter water!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is a popular American superhero TV series. It is simply called Legends of Tomorrow, which means there is no need to use the word ‘DC’ with the name of the series. Greg Berlanti developed the show along with Phil Klemmer, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. On the other hand, Chris Fedak and Sarah Schechter have served as executive producers. Fedak and Klemmer were the showrunners, while Keto Shimizu became a co-showrunner alongside Klemmer starting from the third season. The television series is based on the DC Comics character and has been aired on The CW. It

So, we’ve gone a little longer than we like to without a Legends of Tomorrow episode. Which of course raises the question of: when is the new episode of Legends of Tomorrow finally gonna get here? Good news, folks, we don’t have to wait much longer.
The next episode of Legends of Tomorrow is called “The Final Frame.” Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of the CW…
“When the Legends track down another Alien pod, they find a device that transports them to a cosmic bowling alley. Before consulting Sara (Caity Lotz), Astra (Olivia Swann) and Rory (Dominic Purcell), Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) makes a bet against the reigning champs for a ride back to the Waverider, but not everyone is happy about the plan when they realize what they are up against. Elsewhere, Nate (Nick Zano) plans a romantic date for him and Zari (Tala Ashe), but nothing goes as planned.

Matt Ryan, who has played John Constantine on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow since Season 3, will be wrapping up his arc as the DC antihero in the current sixth season, but Ryan is not going anywhere.
At the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel Sunday, executive producer/co-showrunner Phil Klemmer revealed that Ryan will be back as a series regular in Season 7 as a new character, Dr. Gwyn Davies, an eccentric scientist from the early 20th century who might be the team’s only hope next season.
Also in season 7, series regular voiceover cast member Amy Louise Pemberton, who has voiced Gideon, the Waverider’s AI, for all six seasons and has appeared as the AI’s physical form a handful of times, will now portray a flesh-and-blood version of Gideon in the real world, also as a series regular.

TV writers are rallying behind their writers room assistants’ calls for a “living wage” as part of the IATSE’s negotiations for a new film and television contract, which resume July 6.
Under the Ia’s contract, the minimum pay for writers’ assistants is only $16 an hour, while script coordinators, who report directly to their showrunners or head writers, are paid as little as $17.64 an hour. Many work for these barely livable wages in the hope of getting a shot at a writing assignment.
Writers have been tweeting their support for their assistants using the hashtags #IASolidarity, #PayUpHollywood and #IALivingWage.

One of the most entertaining things about Legends of Tomorrow is the lack of certainty regarding what madness its titular misfits are going to get into next. The closing moments of season 5 saw Sara being pulled into the sky in a column of light while everyone else was apparently too drunk to notice, with many viewers’ immediate assumption of her having been abducted by aliens later confirmed. Despite her being separated from the main team, though, it’s been assured that in the next season, Sara will not be absent from the proceedings.
Speaking at DC FanDome, EP Keto Shimizu assured fans that they “won’t be losing Sara” and that episodes will still show what’s happening to her, just temporarily separated from everyone else. It was also stated that without the White Canary, things don’t go well for the team, who are also down another member following Charlie’s departure.

Chicago P.D.’s Lisseth Chavez is set as a new series regular in the upcoming sixth season of season 6 of the CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The Warner Bros. TV-produced superhero drama moved in to cast Chavez shortly after she became available following a season-long stint as a series regular on NBC’s Chicago P.D.
Chavez will play Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz. Tough and self-sufficient, Spooner Cruz lives off the grid, devising ingenious tech for the detection of — and defense against — space aliens. And while some might call her paranoid, she calls it being prepared. A survivor of a childhood alien encounter, Spooner now believes she has the ability to communicate telepathically with aliens — making her the perfect recruit for Waverider captains Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) and the Legends who, in season six, will be hunting down extraterrestrials who have been displaced throughout history.

Speed and star-power: Those are the two clear goals for the DC Fandome virtual event on Aug. 22, which released its full schedule Friday.
