Dwayne Johnson and John Cena’s rivalry started way back in 2011 when The Rock returned to WWE after a seven-year hiatus to host WrestleMania 27. Johnson made fun of Cena and his catchphrase “You Can’t See Me” during the event. Cena also later responded with hurtful remarks, which led to the duo booking a headline match at WrestleMania 28 almost a year before the event. During this period, Cena also started a rivalry with Cm Punk.

Sometimes a WWE title run just doesn’t work. Maybe the wrestler wasn’t right for it. Maybe the wrestler was right but the writing was all wrong. Maybe the disastrous choice to make someone champion not only hurt the careers of others but also damaged the company as a whole.
We’re looking back at 15 WWE wrestlers who shouldn’t have been crowned world champions. Keep in mind, this list is broken down into specific title runs, so while it was copacetic to have Hulk Hogan wave the banner during the Hulkamania era, that doesn’t mean that it was always the best move to put him at the top of the food chain. Let’s have a look…

Characters are growing, being tested, and testing themselves.
Things are changing in the Dwl, and it's impossible not to feel the excitement creeping back into everyone. They might have hit a rough patch, but they're moving through it and taking things to the next level.
There were three significant developments on Heels Season 2 Episode 4, and that's where we'll focus our time in this review.
First, let's talk about Crystal and the Women's Division.
She's done a lot of work getting herself into ring shape, but when she had to face off against a woman, the gloves came off, and she had to fight harder than she ever had to with the guys.
Tanya, aka El Dorado, has seen it all. She's been on the circuit for a long time, living on the road and taking each fight as they come available. Without an actual women's division, she was effectively freelance.

Outer Banks Season 3 is still a few weeks away, but many fans have already thought ahead. The Netflix teen drama quickly became a hit in 2020 and is now a comfort show for some viewers, so they don’t want it to end anytime soon. Thankfully, the creators of Obx have thought ahead, too. In a recent interview, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke teased the upcoming Outer Banks Season 3 finale and cleared up rumors that it would be the last season.

Alec Baldwin must face a lawsuit from Rust script supervisor Mamie Mitchell over his role in the on-set shooting that resulted in the death and injury of two crew members, a judge has ruled.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Whitaker on Tuesday refused to dismiss claims of assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence against the actor. He found that Mitchell established “extreme and outrageous conduct on the part of Baldwin,” who “unexpectedly cocked and fired a loaded handgun” despite being aware of a disastrous safety culture on the set of Rust where producers shirked industry-wide norms related to the use of guns to shoot the movie on a shoestring budget.
Mitchell will also be allowed to pursue punitive damages against Baldwin and his production company El Dorado Pictures for ignoring prior red flags that put them on notice of...

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that ‘Rust’ script supervisor Mamie Mitchell can pursue her negligence and other claims against Hollywood star Alec Baldwin, who fired a loaded gun on the New Mexico set of the indie Western last year that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.
The Tuesday’s ruling comes as the Santa Fe District Attorney continues to scrutinise the police report about the fatal shooting, which occurred on October 21, 2021 at Bonanza Creek Ranch, reports ‘Deadline’.
Baldwin had filed a motion to be removed from the civil lawsuit filed in November 2021 by Mitchell, who was standing near Hutchins and Souza when the gun Baldwin was holding fired. Judge Michael E. Whitaker also denied a motion from Baldwin and his El Dorado Pictures Inc to strike the script supervisor’s claim for punitive damages.

Alberto Del Rio is a former two-time WWE and World Heavyweight Champion. A 2011 Royal Rumble winner. And a 2011 Money in the Bank winner. Yet, once all is said and done, not many people remember the former WWE star’s career very fondly. How can a guy who’s accomplished so much within the biggest professional wrestling company mean so little in the eyes of most fans? Let’s go back to the beginning. After being the main component for Cmll and Lucha Libre Aaa Worldwide, Alberto Del Rio signed with the company back in 2009. Then, the independent scene wasn’t as

The wrestling industry is huge, and it’s getting even bigger. While many fans are being asked to stay home, to socially distance, and to wear masks while they come to sit with many chairs between them in virtually empty stadiums in baseball fields, football stadiums, and basketball stadiums across the country in pandemic times, the wrestling industry hasn’t closed down their doors to anyone. They’re also keeping their political and current climate opinions to themselves, and many fans are flocking to the wrestling arena because they prefer their entertainers and athletes to entertain or play the game and keep politics

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have more from Tony Khan’s weekly drug trip. Also, there are a shit-load of perverts who have been allegedly revealed, including Jim Cornette & Synn, Dave Lagana, Jordan Devlin & numerous others in Nxt UK and David Starr (along with Alberto Del Rio a few months back and Jay Lethal numerous times over the years). The stories are horrifying and include male and female victims. If you are reading this and have ever been abused, don’t hold that sh*t in. Say that sh*t so everybody can see it and it can’t be hidden anymore. Every time someone gets away with a crime, that leaves them available to hurt more people. Hell, if anyone ever felt like I had ever done anything to them, I’d want them...

Match #1: Bobby Lashley def. Humberto Carrillo – No Disqualification Match The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a wild battle that saw steel chairs come into play, The All Mighty picked Humberto Carrillo out of the sky and forced him to tap out to a fearsome Full Nelson.
My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was a fun way to watch people hurt each other for money. I wonder if John Stossel thinks that this part of the job is fake? Bl and Hc didn’t get too intense with this plunder-fight, but at least they didn’t make out at all…...

Joe Tessitore will be calling Saturday’s action for Tyson Fury’s very real fight with Deontay Wilder, a rematch of their Dec. 1, 2018 bout that resulted in a draw.
But the “Monday Night Football” play-by-play man and anchor of ESPN’s Top Rank Boxing events, has also been following Fury’s budding fake-fighting career with the WWE. Yeah, the “Holey Moley” guy is a legit WWE fan, and even dropped an unprovoked Undertaker reference on us while we talked Wilder-Fury II.
Tessitore told TheWrap he has “watched every second” of Fury’s brief time with Vince McMahon’s professional wrestling organization, which culminated in a match versus Braun Strowman at Saudi Arabia’s “Crown Jewel” pay-per-view on Halloween 2019.

David Arquette made an unlikely return to professional wrestling last year, and a documentary about his comeback is in the works called “You Cannot Kill David Arquette,” the film’s production company Xtr announced Thursday.
Arquette learned some basic wrestling moves back for his 2000 film “Ready to Rumble,” and at the time, he was even crowned a world champion from World Championship Wrestling as part of a marketing stunt. He became a perfect villain in the sport, and now nearly two decades later, he made the real wrestling circuit and competed in 19 different professional matches, some of which even left him bloodied as seen in this video.

Tito Ortiz and Alberto Del Rio are set to throw hands, feet and everything in between Saturday at a Combate Americas “Winner Take All” Mma pay-per-view event on Fite TV.
The offense on display there will be the real deal, not the “working” pro-wrestling punches that Del Rio so famously threw in his days as WWE Champion. Don’t count him out, however — Patrón has a pretty impressive professional mixed martial arts record of 9-5.
Former Ufc Light Heavyweight Champion Ortiz is 20-12 in the sport that he helped bring to the mainstream masses, but the Huntington Beach Bad Boy also has some professional wrestling experience. We asked both men about the challenge of going back and forth between firing off real punches in the cage and fake ones in the squared circle, and which transition is the harder one.

Welcome back folks. So, being a fan of wrestling means you see the same conversations and discussions going on between fans, discussions that never really change. In all the time I’ve been watching pro-wrestling, for twenty-seven years, the question “what’s the best PPV ever” has come up. It’s all about opinion, really. It’s all about choice. What one wrestling fan likes, another wrestling fan might hate, and visa versa. I, however, like to make things difficult for myself, and as seen as we now have the WWE Network (wonder how much it costs…) at our disposal, a wonderful and deep service, I can easily revisit a whole bunch of shows and compile a list of what I, personally, think are the ten best WWE (or WWF) Pay-per-views ever. I won’t talk about Ecw or WCW here, or New Japan Pro Wrestling, or Aew or any other promotion.

Kayfabe died a long time ago, which is to say that everyone is in on the secret of professional wrestling — and the wrestlers themselves no longer pretend otherwise. Even so, this blurring of the lines between reality and illusion belies the industry’s real secret: What goes on behind the scenes has always been more interesting than what we actually see onscreen.
That’s the premise behind Viceland’s forthcoming docuseries “Dark Side of the Ring,” which examines some of the most infamous incidents in pro-wrestling. Smart marks may already be familiar with the tragic fate of the Von Erichs or Bruiser Brody’s suspicious death, but anyone who’s never stayed up all night to watch Wrestle Kingdom or obsessed over Dave Meltzer’s star ratings will surely find a lot of new insights here. “There was a period in the wrestling business where, if you were crazy onscreen,...

For years now, Dolph Ziggler has been one of the best in-ring performers in the WWE, although he rarely gets any credit for what he brings to the product. At one time, Ziggler was the most-popular wrestler on the roster and the pop he got when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to beat Alberto Del Rio a few years back was one of the loudest in WWE history. Do Not tease Seattle sports fans about their former — and still beloved — NBA franchise, the SuperSonics, moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. That’s a lesson WWE heels (the pro-wrestling term for bad guys) Kevin Owens and Elias learned Monday night on “Raw.”
During their live in-ring promo, Owens wondered aloud why their “WWE Super Showdown” opponents John Cena and Bobby Lashley are tag-teaming together. Admittedly, while they’re both baby-faces (the term for good guys), the pairing is a bit of an odd one.
“Kev, it doesn’t make sense, you know?” Elias jumped in. “It’s like having a basketball team in Seattle.”

That didn’t go over favorably, though that’s kind of Elias’ job. We can’t remember the last time we heard such loud and long-sustained booing at a pro-wrestling event.

Paige is back! From battling a neck injury to facing issues with WWE's wellness policy and her whirlwind romance with fellow wrestler Alberto Del Rio, it's been quite a crazy season away for the Total Divas star, but through it all, she's emerged stronger than ever. The England native made her departure from the show after the sixth season and while her suspension from the WWE hit an emotional chord for the wrestler, she insisted that drugs were not the cause for her demise. "WWE posted a statement about me failing the wellness policy," Paige explained in an Oct. 2017 episode of the show. "We get drug tested all the time…first of all, I don't do...

Everyone knows the story of Batista’s last run in the WWE. The WWE had watched Dave Bautista start to see some success in Hollywood and had him return to the company as a face, first in a feud against Alberto Del Rio and then as a contender for Randy Orton’s world title. There was a problem. Batista wanted to be a heel and said that the fans would never want him back as a babyface. The WWE said he was wrong and brought him back as a babyface, and the WWE Universe didn’t care. When he won the Royal Rumble […]

Plans always change in WWE, but the construction of this year’s WrestleMania has thus far been a cavalcade of aborted and rearranged ideas – and that’s no more evident than in the path The Undertaker’s scheduled bout has taken. News broke last year that Wyatt Family giant Braun Strowman was being groomed for the position, but WWE higher-ups thought better of it and decided to go with a John Cena-Undertaker dream match. Once Cena suffered a shoulder injury, Strowman was again a potential opponent for the Phenom, but that idea has reportedly been shelved again.
Even though John Cena is known for his quick recoveries, he doesn’t seem likely to make this year’s WrestleMania – meaning that there’s nobody on the docket for Undertaker to face. WWE is currently suffering the consequences of not having built up talent over the past twelve months,...

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shockingly returned to WWE in 2011 in order to work a two-year program with top star, John Cena. Before Rock made his comeback, the main event of that year’s WrestleMania was scheduled to be John Cena against The Miz for the WWE Championship.
That match didn’t feel like a main event, so when The Rock made his monumental return on the February 14th Raw to reveal himself as the Guest Host of WrestleMania, it became clear that WWE had a plan to still make WrestleMania feel like an epic show.
Over the next few weeks, Rock and Cena would trade insults and even trade finishers, culminating in an-in ring confrontation where they set up a match for the next year’s WrestleMania in Miami, Florida. It was the first time WWE had announced a Mania main event 365 days before the show.

Rey Mysterio could be heading back to the WWE soon. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter states “Friends of Mysterio in WWE believe he won’t be long for Lucha Underground and will be back to WWE, but whether that is before or after season three is a question.”
Cash and creative are believed to be the key. Obviously Mysterio wants to maximise his earnings and have a good spot, but it is debatable if WWE can actually give him those opportunities. They’ve already moved Kalisto (a much cheaper talent) into Rey’s old spot, and there isn’t much value in a part time deal from the company perspective. They could put him on an Ambassador deal, but that’s not really the sort of money that Mysterio would be after.
Still, Mysterio has obviously found out that the grass isn’t greener on the other side. Like Alberto Del Rio,...

Just how stacked can the deck get against Roman Reigns on his clearly telegraphed march toward a WrestleMania victory over Triple H? And how many times can Kalisto and Alberto Del Rio trade the United States Championship back and forth before it is completely devalued and all of John Cena’s hard work is undone?
These seem to be the only questions that matter to WWE these days, if judging solely by matches currently booked for Fastlane in two weeks. Sure, there will have to be several more matches to fill out a PPV card, and there are some angles that are clearly moving in that direction. But you almost get the feeling that WWE writers are looking at a calendar and realizing that they have eight weeks until WrestleMania and are trying to stretch things out, rather than building aggressively toward the go-home PPV before Mania.

This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown on the USA Network (the fifth episode since moving to the channel) experienced a drop in television viewership as compared to last week’s show.
The February 4th broadcast totaled 2.664 million viewers, down slightly from last week’s 2.720 viewers. The viewership totals for SmackDown since moving to USA are as follows:
January 7th: 2.757 million viewers
January 14th: 2.332 million viewers
January 21st: 2.757 million viewers
January 28th: 2.720 million viewers
February 4th: 2.664 million viewers
Despite the slightly drop this week, the viewership is roughly in-line with what the show has been drawing of late. WWE has been attempting to get the show over as “must see” once again following years of ignoring SmackDown’s importance, but the new marketing push has not resulted in increased viewership. SmackDown is still viewed by far less viewers than Raw, even though it is now airing on the same network.

One story dominated SmackDown this week, an angle revolving around the friendship between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. The pair underwent a testing night, including several incidents that will surely throw their alliance into question as we approach Fastlane.
The pair are, of course, scheduled to face Brock Lesnar in a triple threat Number One Contender’s match at the February 21st pay per view.
Elsewhere on the show, Kevin Owens attempted to destroy Us Champion Kalisto, the New Day and Social Outcasts fought in heel vs. heel action, and Aj Styles squared off against The Miz after the pair came to blows on Raw. One man actually left the match with fewer teeth than before!
Add Goldust, R-Truth, and Ryback into the mix, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for a night of ‘Wtf’ moments.

As much as WWE fans would seem to prefer Dean Ambrose headlining WrestleMania 32 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as opposed to Roman Reigns, the writing is pretty much on the wall when it comes to the biggest show on the calendar. Reigns’ controversial push will continue once he inevitably wins the triple threat match at Fastlane, and thus he headlines with Triple H to settle their outstanding grudge. Brock Lesnar will remain steadfast on his path to wrestling Bray Wyatt at the same event.
So what of Ambrose? He’s still the Intercontinental champion, and he doesn’t exactly have a logical role for WrestleMania that a viewer could connect the dots for. Ostensibly, he would defend his championship, assuming he still has it through the bulk of February and March.
A match with Kevin Owens is likely out, since they’ve already concluded their feud at the Royal Rumble.

The WWE seemed cursed from the start, as soon as word broke that they wanted WrestleMania 32 to be the biggest of all-time, and to hopefully break the attendance record by packing well over 100,000 screaming fans inside the At&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Soon after, the injuries started to rack up, and over the last six months huge names like John Cena, Seth Rollins, Sting, Randy Orton and Cesaro all got put on the shelf with a rather large possibility of missing WrestleMania. Now it’s coming out that, in the last week alone, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio could have been added to the ever-growing list.
As you may read the endless pessimistic articles detailing why WrestleMania 32 is already a flop, your hope for a memorable event may be dwindling. In reality, however, there are still several reasons why this year’s spectacle should have you looking looking forward with anticipation.

Former WWE champion Alberto Del Rio has finally signed with an Mma promotion after months of speculation. However, at least for now, he won’t be setting foot inside the cage, instead coming on board as part of the commentary team of the Hispanic Mma startup Combate Americas.
Del Rio, real name Jose Alberto Rodriguez, who is currently competing as a professional wrestler as Alberto El Patron, had a decent run in mixed martial arts earlier in his career as Dos Caras Jr. (how’s that for confusing).
For some time, it has been known that Mma promotions were busy courting Del Rio, thanks to the success of wrestling stars Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, and Cm Punk (who has yet to take part in a single fight, but has no doubt helped the Ufc’s bottom line thanks to his promotional value).

I love when Fantasia gets weird. Featuring its fair share of bigger budget horrors, Asian epics and the occasional mainstream genre pic – it’s the little ones from far off places and no-name filmmakers that excite me the most. This year’s a goldmine for my particular tastes, and it’s been years since I’ve been so excited by their lineup. Most of the films I’m most eager to see are from filmmakers I’ve never heard of, or from countries I’ve nary seen a single film. Living up to its reputation as the world’s largest film festival, Fantasia has allowed it’s breadth to shed focus on new talents and new cinematic languages. This year’s lineup is better than ever, but I managed to choose five films I’m most excited to see. What would be on your list?

Promising to do for Andalusia what Blue Ruin, Cold In July and the first season of True Detective did for the southern Us, Goya-winner Marshland has a rural noir flavour that’s already impressed festivalgoers and critics. The Spanish thriller hits the UK in August and its promotional campaign has kicked off with a new trailer and an eye-catching new poster.Marshland is set in 1980 during the country’s transition from the Franco era to democracy. Its premise sees two teenage girls disappearing and a pair of cops, Juan (Javier Gutiérrez) and Pedro (Raúl Arévalo), charged with tracking them down. Only, of course, there’s a serial killer involved. There’s always one.The two homicide detectives have an uneasy relationship and plenty of their own demons, but director Alberto Rodriguez has by all accounts veered away from the odd-couple cop cliches that plague lesser thrillers to deliver an atmospheric,...
