On the eve of the My Chemical Romance reunion concert, it’s 48 degrees Fahrenheit, or the coldest Los Angeles ever really gets. But outside the Shrine Expo, where the band will stage their first concert together in seven years, several young fans are huddled behind the merch trailers, hoping to catch a glimpse of their heroes as they presumably leave soundcheck. Mabel, a blue-haired 22-year-old from São Paulo, says she spent all her airline miles to fly here from Brazil.

Gerard Way has debuted another new single: a cover of the Turtles’ “Happy Together.” The song will be featured in the Netflix adaptation of his comic series The Umbrella Academy.
With assistance from former My Chemical Romance bandmate Ray Toro, Way remains faithful to the classic 1967 song. There’s a touch more fuzz in the sound and a bit of camp in Way’s voice as he delivers the track, which was also recently covered by Weezer for their Teal Album. The song will be featured in the show’s fifth episode.

There have been so many supernatural and superhero stories in pop culture lately, it's sometimes hard to keep up. But one new tale is getting some serious attention online - and not just because of the story.
The trailer for Netflix's upcoming series The Umbrella Academy dropped recently, and it's intriguing enough on its own. Its premise is the eerie stuff that sci-fi series are made of: 43 children are suddenly born to women who weren't even pregnant, and six of them, with supernatural abilities, are raised by a billionaire and eventually reunite to prevent the apocalypse that one of them glimpsed on an accidental time-travel trip. This high-concept series is enough to get people buzzing, but the punk-rock song that scores the trailer has caught plenty of attention itself.

Welcome to the Black Parade: a depressing event we hold every year on the anniversary of My Chemical Romance's breakup. Their famous last words came on March 22, 2013, when they posted a heartfelt note on their Facebook. "Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing," they began. "We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure." Well that adventure has been over for five years now, and the ghost of MCR still haunts us to this day. Read on to see what the former...

New York — The chemistry is over: rock outfit My Chemical Romance has disbanded.
The New Jersey-based band announced Saturday that "it has come time for it to end." The foursome thanked fans in a statement and said the experience was "a true blessing."
My Chemical Romance's sound is a mix of alternative, punk rock and pop. Band members released their debut album in 2002 but really made a splash on the music scene in 2004 with the platinum-selling "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge." It featured the top-40 hit "Helena."
They followed that with another platinum effort in 2006, "The Black Parade," earning their first top-10 pop hit with the song "Welcome to the Black Parade."
The group said they've "shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends."
Group members included vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero.

When My Chemical Romance first learned of the devastating natural disasters that struck Japan in March, they didn't wonder, "Should we help?" Instead, their first thought was "How can we help?"
"Japan has always held a special place in our hearts, really from the first time we had a show there. ... We just had such an amazing response there, and we're just such fans of the culture," MCR guitarist Ray Toro explained. "And then all of the fans we met out there, they're just so polite and there's just a really great energy over there. And we've been back there many times and have a really strong connection.

Rockers My Chemical Romance have tweaked their hit song "Sing" to raise funds for the Japanese earthquake/tsunami relief effort. The tune "Sing It for Japan" has been released as a download on iTunes.com with all proceeds from sales benefiting the American Red Cross.
The song is a re-interpretation of the band's single, "Sing", and has been produced and arranged by the group's guitarist Ray Toro. The track features Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Suzie Katayama, who created the new tune's orchestral arrangement.
Toro tells WENN, "Ever since our first show there, My Chemical Romance have always shared a special connection with Japan. We received news of the events unfolding there while on tour and it affected us in a profound way."
"We were inspired by our fans to set to work on re-imagining 'Sing'... Using classic Japanese themes in the orchestration, we hope we have honored and paid tribute to the people of Japan.

My Chemical Romance is to release a special version of their song “Sing”, with proceeds going to the Red Cross’ efforts in Japan.
“After the news of the earthquake and tsunami spread, I did what most people did. I stopped and stared at the TV,” wrote guitarist Ray Toro on the band’s website. "I sat at the computer, constantly refreshing CNN in hopes of some good news. And I went to Twitter to see what people were saying. I noticed a hash-tag, “#SINGItForJapan,” where you kids were writing messages of hope, saying prayers and sending your condolences and well wishes to survivors. It moved me in a profound way.
“A week later, after talking with the guys about what we could do, here we are. I’ve been working backstage and on planes to put together a special version of Sing. Our plan is to release it with all...

Los Angeles — "How are you tonight?" flame-haired frontman Gerard Way panted, five-songs into his band's set, which was streamed live on MTV.com from the House of Blues on Monday night. "We are My Chemical Romance and it's very amazing to be back."

My Chemical Romance will never have their music played in an elevator. The "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)" group are on a mission to "polarize" people with their music, and because their tracks inspire different reactions in people, they know they won't end up as background music.

"You hear bands even that are out now, in elevators; because you're indifferent to it. But this band is so loved and so hated that we polarize people, and that's great."

And we've basically spent every hour since re-watching it, combing through each frame and marveling at its breakneck pacing, sneering swagger and, well, hyperkinetic, hypercolor stylings.
Yes, "Na Na Na" is certainly a remarkable thing, an eye-catching, palpitation-inducing thrill ride (sort of like the album it's promoting) that's also incredibly clever, slightly goofy, and downright sly. See, much like other great videos of recent memory — like, say, Lady Gaga's "Telephone" — it's also chock-full of blink-and-you'll-miss-them nods to pop culture; too-clever odes to film, TV, toys and all...

Who: The last band standing in the certifiably wild West region in MTV's Musical March Madness tournament, My Chemical Romance have to be considered the favorites to win it all at this point, based on the bands they've bested and the help they're getting from their friends in 30 Seconds to Mars (more on that in a bit). Up until the departure of drummer Bob Bryar, My Chem were one of the few bands in the tournament who could field an actual basketball team (there were five of them) but even when playing a man down, they're a formidable squad, with the Way brothers running the show from the guard positions, Frank Iero scoring from the wing, and the indomitable inside presence of Ray Toro.
