Exclusive: Former Avalon manager Olivia Wingate has launched the solo production company Wingate Media, bringing all her projects and team with her, we hear.
The company will be headquartered in New York, focused on developing, incubating and producing premium and cutting-edge projects aimed toward a worldwide audience, and committed to prioritizing unique and underrepresented artists and perspectives.
A London native, Wingate has been New York based, with a presence in Los Angeles and London, for more than 25 years. Her career has spanned theater, film, comedy, documentary and scripted drama. Wingate Media combines all her experience to incubate and elevate stories that will aim to inspire and provoke debate.

An unauthorized dramatization of the lives of David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen will be staged off-Broadway in New York City next year. Eddie and Dave will open at the Atlantic Theater Company – which launched the Tony Award–winning The Band’s Visit – on January 10th and run through February 10th. The production carefully avoids using the Van Halen name, likely to avoid a lawsuit as Ultimate Classic Rock reports, but it hints at the band: the key art presents the musicians’ hair as it looked in the early Eighties.

The Secret Life of Bees, a new musical based on the best-selling novel and with music by Dunan Sheik, will make its world premiere next May at the Atlantic Theater Off-Broadway. The production will be directed by Tony winner Sam Gold (Fun Home).
The musical, with a book by Lynn Nottage and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead, based on the novel by Sue Monk Kidd, is part of the Atlantic’s 2018-19 season announced today, a roster that includes The Mother, a new play starring Oscar-nominated actress Isabelle Huppert.
Sheik’s 2006 Spring Awakening won the Tony Award for Best Musical. His 2016 American Psycho, though, was a Broadway flop.
