Bob Wolff, a sports broadcaster for eight decades who interviewed both Babe Ruth and Derek Jeter, died Sunday in South Nyack, N.Y., at age 96, his family told the New York Times. The upcoming "Project Almanac" movie features a bunch of kids traveling back in time that results in changes to the present time. But even though the film is set to hit theaters on January 30th, Michael Bay just requested for Paramount Pictures to cut out one of the scenes. In the film and in the trailer there's a scene that shows a plane crash. It turns out that director Dean Israelite used footage of an actual plane crash. The footage is of a B-52 crashing at the Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington back in 1994. There were two victims, Col. Robert Wolff and Lt. Col. Mark McGeehan. Their families saw the trailer and immediately demanded for the footage must be removed. Bay, who produced the film, quickly apologized, expressing his support for the military and vowed that Paramount will delete the scene. The studio has now confirmed that the scene is gone.

Michael Bay has apologised for allowing a scene of a real-life plane crash into his upcoming film Project Almanac.
The trailer for the time-travel thriller, produced by Bay's Platinum Dunes company and directed by Dean Israelite, features footage of a fatal B-52 Air Force crash that occurred in 1994.
According to Air Force Times, families of two victims - Col Robert Wolff and Lt Col Mark McGeehan - expressed concern about the inclusion of the clip.
Bay claimed that he was unaware that the footage used was real and not computer-generated, adding that he has asked Paramount to remove the scene from the final cut.
"I let film directors make their movies at Platinum Dunes and give them tremendous responsibilities," he said. "Well, unfortunately a very bad choice was made to use a real crash instead of creating a VFX shot, without realising the impact it could have on the families.

The Michael Bay-produced time travel film Project Almanac is set to come out in less than 10 days, but pressure has been applied to have the movie changed before its release. It turns out that one scene,in the film features footage extremely similar to a fatal B-52 crash that occurred back in 1994, and families of two of the victim have requested that it be removed. The families of Col. Robert Wolff and Lt. Col. Mark McGeehan recently got in contact with Air Force Times after seeing the Project Almanac trailer, which features a scene of actors watching crash footage that looks "nearly identical" to what occurred in 1994. They were reportedly outraged by the clip and felt disappointed that it would be used outside of its original context. In a statement to the Air Force Times, Michael Bay said that he was unaware that the two-second shot in the movie...

Neglected Gems of the 1980’s: Roger Spottiswoode Remembers Under Fire

Editor's Note: The following article appeared on EightMillionStories.com in 2008.
The name may not ring a bell, but Roger Spottiswoode has been directing feature films for nearly thirty years, including popular hits like Turner and Hooch (1989), Air America (1990), and the James Bond adventure Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), as well as outstanding made-for-cable dramas like And the Band Played On (1993), Hiroshima (1995), and Noriega (2000).
2008 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of his remarkable third feature Under Fire, which starred Nick Nolte and Gene Hackman as journalists covering the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua.
It’s generally a given that every Hollywood movie endures a long, tortuous road to find financing, but not Under Fire. It had a long, hard road as well… but only after the film had been completed. Roger Spottiswoode and I spoke by phone:
