In an exclusive statement to The Messenger, McCain said, “My family has not authorized it nor was aware of it. I was as surprised as everyone else to see the announcement.”
This morning, producers Quixote Productions and Max Fose announced an invitation-only industry reading later this week in New York of what they call a “provocative and zeitgeisty” new musical titled The Ghost of John McCain. The musical features a book by Scott Elmegreen and score by Drew Fornarola.

Mariah Carey will join the producing team of Some Like it Hot, the new Broadway musical announced Monday.
This is the first Broadway credit for Carey, who joins the production as a co-producer. Carey said she was drawn to the musical, an adaptation of the 1959 film starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, because of her love for the actress.
“I first became familiar with this story through the timeless film starring Marilyn Monroe. Producer Ryan Murphy drew the curtain back on the cast of Netflix’s The Prom, sharing a first-look photo of the “icon-packed” group on Instagram.
