Exclusive: Michael K. Williams is returning to the Black Market for the first time in five years after Vice TV renewed his illicit docuseries.
The first season of the show, which saw The Wire star journey into the dangerous world of gunrunners, poachers, drug addicts and illegal gambling dens, aired in 2016.
He subsequently starred in series such as Netflix’s When They See Us and HBO’s Lovecraft Country and also appeared as Bob Dylan in Apple’s Beastie Boys Story.
Williams will now continue the work of season one and look at the conditions from which black markets arise and the cultural reasons behind why they persist, from carjacking in Newark, NJ to the poaching of abalone off the coast of South Africa.
“After a busy period of back-to-back projects, I’m incredibly excited to rejoin my Vice family in taking a deeper dive behind telling the narratives of these global communities,...

Vice TV has announced that its new series, “While the Rest of Us Die: Secrets of America’s Shadow Government,” will premiere on Nov. 16 at 10 p.m.
Based on the book by Garrett M. Graff, the six-part series exposes the U.S. government’s flawed plans to protect its citizens. The show unpacks America’s national security spending on hidden underground cities, a secret air force and a plan to suspend democracy in order to serve the interests of the elite class.
The series features interviews with political figures including former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and former National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure, Protection and Counter-terrorism Richard Clarke, and national security experts Malcolm Nance, Elizabeth Goitien and Paul Rieckhoff. It will be narrated by “Westworld” star Jeffrey Wright.
“The events of this last year have laid bare the economic, political and health inequities at the core of American society,” said Graff.

An article published Memorial Day in the New York Times captured the imagination — alternately hopeful, fearful, or just nihilistically curious — of a readership that’s never in recent memory felt quite so ready to learn about planets other than our vexed earth. The article described encounters between U.S. Navy pilots and unidentified flying objects, a cliché that actually serves a useful purpose. The objects these pilots met were aloft through indescribable means, zooming through the air at seemingly impossible speeds, and both their provenance and their methods were unknown.
Fairly deep in the article was buried that the story’s witnesses were to appear on History’s new series “Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation.” The show seeks to shed what light it can on a mystery that’s bedeviled the human psyche in theoretical terms — can we really be alone out there? — and, at least stateside, in more concrete ones,...

Former Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge will executive produce History’s new non-fiction limited series “Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation,” which promises to reveal new evidence, footage and eyewitness interviews about a once-hidden government organization devoted to investigating UFOs.
The six-part hourlong series, premiering in May, follows a Pentagon program called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (Aatip), which explored what the program referred to as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (Uap). The series features interviews with former military intelligence official and head of Aatip Luis Elizondo, who served as a primary source when the program’s existence was exposed by The New York Times in 2017.
After resigning from the program, Elizondo joined DeLonge’s To The Stars Academy of Arts & Science, which combines science, aerospace and entertainment to research and engineer scientific phenomena. Together, Elizondo and DeLonge and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and Intelligence Chris Mellon will speak...

History has given the greenlight to Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation, a six-part docuseries that the network says will expose new evidence about the U.S. government’s secret program investigating the UFO phenomenon. The series will premiere sometime in May.
