Kollywood 'Traffic Ramaswamy' is based on the life of the 83-year-old eponymous, popular real-life activist from Chennai. Digital NativeAt the audio launch of upcoming Tamil film Traffic Ramaswamy, based on the life of the 83-year-old eponymous, popular real-life activist, filmmaker Shankar, who presided over as the chief guest of the event, made some interesting revelation. Speaking on the occasion, Shankar said he had plans to make a film on Traffic Ramaswamy and wished to cast superstar Rajinikanth in the titular role. “Traffic Ramaswamy is a very inspiring character. Whenever I’ve read about him in newspapers, I’ve always been surprised by his courage. He’s someone filled with heroism. I saw him in my films in characters such as Senapathy from Indian and in Ambi from Anniyan. I wanted to make a film on a character inspired by him. I wanted to make it with Rajini sir as I felt age-wise he’d be apt for such a role. Unfortunately, the plan didn’t materialise when I learnt somebody else had announced a film on his life.” Actor-filmmaker S.A Chandrasekhar a.k.a Sac has played the lead in Traffic Ramaswamy, which is gearing up for June 22 release. Shankar said he’s glad Chandrasekhar played the titular character. “I’m happy they’ve made the film with Sac sir because he’s as socially responsible as Traffic Ramaswamy, and I think audiences can easily relate to the character.” Directed by Vicky, the film also stars Rohini, Rk Suresh, Livingston, Imman Anaachi, Ammu Ramachandran, Charles Vinod, Chetan, Baby Sherin, Mohan Ram and Madan Bob among others. Actor Vijay Antony has played a cameo. Meanwhile, Shankar awaits the release of 2.0, a sequel to Rajinikanth’s Enthiran. According to the latest grapevine, it is being said that the Inr 450 crore magnum opus won’t hit the screens this year. Apparently, the makers are eyeing January 2019 release as the visual effects work in the film is taking longer time than expected. (Content provided by Digital Native)...

TollywoodThe biopic stars actor-filmmaker Sa Chandrasekhar in the titular role. Digital NativeActor Prakash Raj, who is known for playing character roles across languages, has landed a pivotal role in the biopic on social activist Traffic Ramaswamy, which stars actor-filmmaker Sa Chandrasekhar in the titular role. Prakash Raj will be seen as a police commissioner in a power-packed role. On signing the project, he told Deccan Chronicle: “It is a strong role and I consider it to be a big honour to be part of the film, which is about a well-known and a fearless social activist Traffic Ramasamy sir.” Last seen playing a dreaded rowdy Kasi in Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran, Prakash Raj will commence shooting for this project from early next year. Being directed by debutant Vijay Vikram, an erstwhile assistant of Sa Chandrasekhar, the film also stars Rohini as Chandrasekhar’s spouse and Rk Suresh and Upasana as the lead pair, apart from Vijay Antony, S Ve Shekar, Kasthuri, Manobala and Madan Bob in interesting cameo roles. Prakash Raj is expected to look slightly older for the role, which apparently floored him in the first narration. After wrapping up his portion on this project, Prakash Raj will join the sets of Mani Ratnam’s next untitled multi-starrer. Veteran actress Jayasudha plays his pair in the film. Apparently, Arvind Swami, Fahadh and Simbu – the lead actors of the film - will be seen as their sons. It has also been confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in a special role as a cop. Prakash had last worked with Mani Ratnam in Ok Kanmani.
