Peter Lenkov, one of CBS’ most prolific showrunners, has been fired following an investigation into multiple accusations that he created a toxic work environment.
Lenkov is the showrunner for CBS dramas “MacGyver” and “Magnum Pi” and created the network’s “Hawaii Five-0” reboot, which ended earlier this year.
“Peter Lenkov is no longer the executive producer overseeing MacGyver and Magnum P.I., and the studio has ended its relationship with him,” a CBS TV Studios spokesperson said in a statement. “Monica Macer will be the showrunner on ‘MacGyver’ and Eric Guggenheim will run ‘Magnum P.I.’ Both are currently executive producers on their respective series. Our studio is committed to ensuring safe and respectful production environments. Over the past year, we have assigned human resource production partners to every show, expanded staff training and increased reporting options. We will continue to evolve our practices with continued focus on building trust with all who work on our sets.

Bob Kushell is out as co-showrunner for CBS’ midseason sitcom “Fam,” ahead of its debut, for “inappropriate language in the workplace.”
CBS declined to comment, but an insider with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that Kushell is no longer with the show. TV Line was first to report the news of Kushell’s departure for workplace misconduct. Representatives for Kushell did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
The comedy starring Nina Dobrev and Tone Bell is set to premiere at midseason. Corinne Kingsbury, who created the show, will now be the sole showrunner on the series.

“Criminal Minds” executive producer Erica Messer went to the show’s set Oct. 2 to address the crew. But the occasion was not, as she had hoped, to announce that CBS had ordered additional episodes for the series’ 13th season.
It was to inform crew members that at 4 p.m. Variety would publish a story about “Criminal Minds” director of photography Greg St. Johns and the sexual harassment, workplace abuse and retaliatory firing allegations against him. After saying that St. Johns would be taking time off as a result, she bemoaned that the allegations would go public amid a publicity push for the new season, which began Oct. 3 with the series’ 300th episode.
“It’s really s—-y timing that it’s happening on the eve of our 300th premiere,” Messer said, according to audio of the roughly two-minute talk obtained by Variety. “But we have our fabulous cast that’s...

Stephen Colbert told viewers of “The Late Show” Wednesday night that members of his staff had complained several times about inappropriate conduct of a now-suspended CBS executive but that the network had not been responsive.
“About six months into this show, some of the employees said that they were uncomfortable with some of the things he said,” Colbert told viewers. “We took their complaints to Hr. They investigated. Twice. But I don’t really know what if anything happened. It seemed like someone was protecting this guy. I don’t know who it was.”
On Wednesday, CNN published a report on senior vice president of talent for CBS Televisions Studios, Vinnie Favale, which found that he often used what the network called “sexist and homophobic” language in the workplace. Favale was suspended shortly before the story was published.

Stephen Colbert took a moment on Late Show to thank CNN for its report earlier in the day that the CBS exec who had been tasked with developing comedic talent for his show had been placed on administrative leave.
Vinnie Favale was put on leave as the media company investigates allegations he used sexually explicit and homophobic language in the workplace and retaliated against those who complained.
CNN had been working on the report for weeks and CNN reports Favale was put in administrative leave following that investigation.
“An article came out in CNN today about an executive at CBS who used to be a liaison to this show. He basically came with the building when I got this show, and he used to be around here a lot,” Colbert told viewers a few hours after CNN’s report.

Stephen Colbert again addressed allegations of sexual misconduct at his network on The Late Show Wednesday night, saying he was "grateful" for a CNN report that morning detailing allegations of workplace harassment against a CBS executive.
Just weeks after the late-night host discussed the outing of network president Leslie Moonves on his show, Colbert mentioned Vinnie Favale, the senior vp talent development at CBS Studios, the subject of the CNN story, during the second part of his monologue. Favale was placed on leave by the network Wednesday.

A CBS executive who develops comedic talent for the Late Show With Stephen Colbert has been placed on administrative leave as the media company investigates allegations of him using sexually explicit and homophobic language in the workplace and retaliating against those who complained.
Nine current and former CBS employees who spoke to CNN described Vinnie Favale’s use of ribald and offensive language, including one who said he talked about how he got “four erections” while watching Jennifer Hudson rehearse for a show.
Two sources recounted details of a 2015 department meeting that was interrupted by the sound of construction — prompting Favale to compare the drill to “a big black dick.” One female employee who complained to her supervisor about the drill remark found herself subsequently excluded from meetings, according to CNN’s report.

CBS Studios executive Vinnie Favale was placed on administrative leave after multiple accusations of him using sexual and homophobic language.
“The comments reported in this story are offensive and not consistent with the standards we expect from our executives or the culture we want at CBS. The network investigated a complaint for inappropriate language that was received in January 2016, and corrective action was taken,” said the company in a statement. “However, since concerned voices are speaking up nearly three years later, additional review is warranted. Mr. Favale has been placed on leave while we look into this situation further.”
The news comes following a CNN report, which detailed accusations of multiple instances of inappropriate workplace language from nine current and former CBS employees. They described instances in “Late Show” meetings and rehearsals, between 2015 and 2018, where Favale “used sexual innuendo, made homophobic comments and allegedly said derogatory remarks about the appearances of female guests.

"Sometimes you have to die to be larger than life," says a character of Hereafter, the passion project from CBS' VP of late night Vinnie Favale that officially opened at New York City's Snapple Theater this past weekend for an unlimited commercial run. The musical, which follows three heartbroken women who meet with a medium in the hopes of communicating with lost loved ones, doesn't necessarily answer the question of whether heaven, hell or both do exist, but it does theorize on another postmortem topic: those who leave this world are held back after death by those still alive
