New Delhi, Aug 21 (Ians) Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from India’s 17-member squad for the upcoming 50-over Asia Cup came as a surprise to many. With India set to play their Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka, many expected that with pitches favouring spinners, they could pick four spinners.
But when the squad was announced in a press conference on Monday, Chahal’s name was missing, with India’s bowling composition being three spinners in Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, apart from six fast-bowling options. Asked about Chahal’s exclusion, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said it was difficult to have two wrist-spinners in the team, with Kuldeep being ahead of him.
“He is another terrific performer for India. But sometimes it is the balance of the team or the team combination. Axar (Patel) has done really well, and he can bat as well. Kuldeep (Yadav) has had a fantastic run.

The long-awaited spy thriller Dhruva Natchathiram, starring Vikram in the lead role, has undergone some changes in its cast and crew. According to reports, actress Aishwarya Rajesh, who was supposed to play one of the female leads opposite Vikram, has been removed from the film. The reason for her exit is not clear, but some sources claim that it was due to the delay in the film’s release and her prior commitments.
To confirm this news, Sony Music South, the music label of the film, has released a new version of the song Oru Manam, which was earlier released as the first single from the film. The new version has cut out all the scenes featuring Aishwarya Rajesh and Vikram, and has added some extra scenes between Ritu Varma and Vikram. The song, composed by Harris Jayaraj and sung by Shashaa Tirupati and Karthik, is a romantic melody that...

Mumbai, May 5 (Ians) The six franchises of the Ultimate Table Tennis (Utt) on Friday picked their coaches for the upcoming edition of the league in the Coach Draft held here on Friday.
The fourth edition of the league is scheduled to take place from July 13 to 30 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
The draft began by determining the sequence or order for selection with each team picking up the numbered ball (1-6) from a pouch for Round 1. The order would be reversed for Round 2.
The league’s newest team, Bengaluru Smashers made the first pick in Round 1 to bring Sachin Shetty on board before adding Slovenia’s Vesna Ojstersek as their foreign coach in the Round 2.
“I think Vesna and Sachin were a combination for Delhi which ended up as runners-up in 2019. We had that at the back of our mind. Our team had done the homework and these were our first choices.

Bengaluru, April 24 (Ians) In defending 20 runs in the final over against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) fast bowler Harshal Patel didn’t have an ideal start by getting hit for 10 runs in the first three balls.
But Patel immediately bounced back by having Ashwin slog straight to deep mid-wicket and gave away two singles on the last two balls to secure a seven-run win. Asked by fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj in a video posted on Ipl’s social media accounts, Patel said he had it in his mind to bowl difficult balls.
“The mindset was that it would be difficult to bowl slower balls because the wicket was slow and the ball was a bit soft. As (Ravichandran) Ashwin was trying to hit more (shots) towards the leg-side, I was trying to bowl the slower ones wide (outside off) as much as possible.

Not one, but two crazy Star Wars conspiracy theories in one week? Not bad. Earlier we posted the theory that C3PO was really part of Darth Vader’s Imperial Army and acting as a spy. I found that one to be not as believable as the famous Jar Jar Binks being a Jedi one. However, today I stumbled across another theory that’s gaining a bit of traction online. It was posted on April 3rd of this year but today it’s making the rounds. It posits that Snoke is really Anakin’s evil twin brother. Yes, I know it sounds crazy but have

Thanks to John Madden’s timely drama Miss Sloane, Jessica Chastain will soon find herself in the midst of awards season – not for the first time, mind you – but the esteemed actress has many more exciting projects lining her slate beyond Washington’s corridors of power.
The Zookeeper’s Wife, for instance, is Niki Caro’s upcoming wartime drama that places Chastain in the role of Antonina Żabińska. Set just prior to Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939, Caro’s period piece is actually an adaptation of Diane Ackerman’s non-fiction novel, which recounts the remarkable true story of Antonina and her husband Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh), who saved countless human and animal lives during WWII by hiding them in animal cages peppered across the Warsaw Zoo

Screen Gems’ horror sequel Underworld 5 isn’t the only production that Prague is playing host to this week, with news coming through that both Jessica Chastain and Daniel Brühl are descending on the Czech capital to begin filming on Niki Caro’s adaptation, The Zookeeper’s Wife.
Taking inspiration from Diane Ackerman’s non-fiction novel of the same name, Chastain is on board to play Antonina Żabiński during the formative years of World War II. Situated in Poland in 1939, the native farmer worked to establish a zoo of her own along with her husband Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh), but their lives are effectively upended with the Nazi army invades their home country.
Having to report to a volatile new zoo keeper, the pair soon take solace in the resistance and their plan to rescue the population from the fast declining state of the Warsaw Ghetto. Putting their children at great risk,...

Hot off his stint as the villainous Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War, Daniel Bruhl is heading into an entirely different type of conflict in The Zookeeper’s Wife. As reported by THR, the German thesp is now attached to co-star alongside Jessica Chastain, who nabbed the headlining role some two-and-a-half years ago.
Focus Features has Whale Rider helmer Niki Caro set to direct this true story based on the experiences of a Warsaw couple during World War Two. Diane Ackerman penned the non-fiction account of zookeepers Antonina and Jan Zabinska, who displayed immense bravery during the Nazi occupation by hiding 300 Jews in the battered ruined cages of the animals, and many more tucked away in their own homestead.
Bruhl plays Dr. Jan Zabinska, who also worked as part of the resistance, alongside Chastain, who plays Antonina. There’s been very little development on the film since her appointment in May 2013 – presumably scheduling conflicts?...

It doesn’t take much to get the rumour mill for Star Wars going. As Episode VII speeds through production we’re becoming inundated with theories about what secrets the sequel trilogy could hold. Who are certain actors playing? What will have happened to the existing characters in the intervening thirty years? What’s the film actually going to be called? And if you think it’s bad now by the time we reach a point where 18th December 2015 isn’t some far off point imagine things to be as intense as a pod-race on death sticks.
But don’t forget the existing six movies, which in their thirty-seven years of existence have come with their very own theories, some disproved by subsequent releases, other existing purely to tie together the more conspicuous continuity errors across the saga. One of the cutest as the be the one involving E.
