Set in the year 2027, Memorize tells the tale of a new method to combat crime. Everyone is implanted with a Memorize-chip that records everything you see. Our protagonist is a member of a special form of police, the Ssu – Special Surveillance Unit.
Beautifully shot, Memorize looks like a major studio film. It is heavy on action, and light on dialogue – so it closely resembles a Michael Bay film! Creators Jimmy Eriksson and Eric Ramberg’s choice of this direction is really effective when your actors have limited acting skills or there is concern with writing quality dialogue. Whether either of these were a concern, who knows.
To be honest there is nothing extremely innovative about Memorize, yet it is an entertaining ride nonetheless. Many times during this film it seemed like the love child of Minority Report and Judge Dredd. The theme of government surveillance/control is not new, but...

Why Watch? In the near future, we’ve all been implanted with chips that constantly record everything we see. That could get kinky, but the police state in this short from Jimmy Eriksson and Eric Ramberg uses the videos to give definitive proof of crimes or get picture-perfect testimony from witnesses. When one agent tracks down a suspected killer, he’ll find out that the perfect system they have in place has a slight problem. The sparse words are a bit clunky (as is some of the action choreography), but the reason to celebrate this one is the array of CGI tricks that the filmmakers (and their future) have in store. There’s a lot of slick-looking camera work and magic in the computer-generated visuals that could definitely come in handy for modern day police forces. If only there were some spare Rc parts lying around… Thanks to Short of the Week for sharing it, and...

"We've got a problem." Another great sci-fi action short film to catch, this one we promise is entertaining. From directors Eric Ramberg and Jimmy Eriksson comes a sci-fi story set in 2027 titled Memorize, in a world where everyone has "Memorize-chips" implanted that record everything in an attempt to cut down on crime. Watching this, it kind of has a Minority Report or Gattaca feeling, with modern day action like Dredd. One reader who sent this in references video games: "A dash of Max Payne, a dash of Syndicate. Also, oddly like a futuristic Law & Order or CSI." That's true too, but it's pretty damn good. Check this out! The logline from Vimeo, and seen at the beginning of the film: In 2027, everyone is implanted with a chip - the Memorize-chip. It records everything you see, a new system to fight crime.
