Belinda has a point: Therapy’s helpful, but when it comes to heartbreak, music is the antidote.
On Wednesday night, the Mexican pop star released her single “Cactus,” a corrido-pop song that hears her take aim at her ex-fiancé (and música Mexican heartthrob) Christian Nodál — in his own genre.
“What was the point of tattooing my eyes, only to erase them with someone else’s?” asks Belinda on the track, backed by tuba and requnito, as she references her ex. After the couple’s breakup in 2022, Nodál covered up a...

Christian Nodal decided to celebrate the music of his country in a special way. In honor of Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 14, the música Mexicana star released his new EP México En Mi Voz. On the project, Nodal takes on mariachi classics by late Mexican icons Vicente Fernández and Juan Gabriel.
“I love my culture,” he says over Zoom. “I’m very proud of my country and the music from there. In this era of música Mexicana, there are a lot of different styles coming out that are being played around the world.

Alicia Keys decided to bring one of Música Mexicana’s prodigies onstage with her as she wraps her tour in Latin America.
During her performance at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional on Wednesday, Keys welcomed Ángela Aguilar and a mariachi to perform Aguilar’s “Qué Agonía” and her own Spanglish hit “Looking for Paradise.”
Videos from the concert captured the two hitting the duet’s high notes by each other’s side as they performed a new Spanglish rendition (with Keys singing the English lyrics) of “Qué Agonía” while backed by a complete mariachi band.

It’s 5 p.m. early in April, and there’s already a crowd of teens in blood-splattered clothes lining the sidewalk around Antiguo Hotel Reforma, the once glorious art-deco monolith where Argentine rap star Dillom is set to take the stage for his first ever Mexico City show. The gory attire has become a sort of uniform among his devoted fanbase, who scream-sing and mosh wildly at each of the rapper’s heart-pounding concerts. Inside the dilapidated hotel-turned-eerie art space, a production manager leads Dillom and I into a ripped-up guest room to chat,...

Latin stars Cazzu and Young Miko are bringing their trap styles together for fiery, dembow-tinged collaboration “Brinca.” On Friday, the duo released the single, and its museum-set video celebrating the track.
The Ballvu-directed video sees Cazzu arriving at a museum before staring at an abstract painting that resembles her. She’s then transported into a dream state, where she poses in a star-shaped chair while surrounded by some AK47-wielding dancers as she raps some sapphic lyrics.
“Indomitable/They want with Cazzu and Miko at the same time,” Cazzu raps.

By now, Julia Michaels is a familiar face on the pop landscape. An in-demand songwriter for artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Britney Spears, she scored her first Top 20 hit under her own name with her 2017 debut single, “Issues.” But even those who have been following Michaels’ career might not know a key fact about the artist: She’s Latina. Her government name is Julia Cavazos, and she’s of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent on her father’s side. And on her new single, “Only One” — a breezy...
