Patrick Schwarzenegger mourned the death of “Gen V” costar Chance Perdomo over the weekend, posting to social media that the 27-year-old actor was “a great friend.”
“This hurts. A lot. What a young, talented actor and a great friend — gone way too soon,” Schwarzenegger wrote Saturday on X. “Was a pleasure to work with him in ‘Gen V.’ Rip Chance.”
He also reshared a post showing Schwarzenegger tearfully hugging Perdomo in a climactic scene in “Gen V.”
“Damn that just made me tear up,” he wrote.

Of Gen V's full promising young cast, it's Maddie Phillips' Cate Dunlap who might have the best chance of appearing in The Boys Season 4.
Cate was initially introduced to viewers as Golden Boy’s girlfriend, who wields (and struggles with) her powerful telepathic abilities. Throughout the season it was revealed that Cate had close ties to Dean Shetty and The Woods, which all came to a head in the season finale.
While Gen V was initially designed to stand separate from its parent show, the series has consistently held ties to The Boys, whether it be with subtle references or full-on cameos. The producers have since confirmed that Gen V's finale is designed to "handoff" to The Boys Season 4, indicating there are more crossovers in the future.

It’s been quite a wild ride for the supes-in-training at Goldolkin University in season 1 of The Boys spinoff, Gen V. Things started with a murder-suicide featuring Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and his beloved teacher Professor Richard “Brink” Brinkerhoff (Clancy Brown) and then only got weirder from there.
We’ve followed along as our sort-of heroes Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh), and Sam (Asa Germann) uncovered the mystery of God U’s secret “Woods” containment facility and with it a sinister plot to eliminate all superheroes. The penultimate episode of this first season concluded with the murder of Dean Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn) and the gang splitting between ideological lines regarding how to deal with the threat to Compound V-enhanced individuals a la Professor X and Magneto.

No good deed ever goes unpunished; that’s what the major takeaway was from the first season finale of Amazon Studios’ Gen V. As the second offshoot venture of The Boys universe, Gen V delved into the filthy corruption involving supes, this time at the grassroot level, as Vought-sponsored superhero institute Godolkin University turned out to be the root of all evil. What began as the student group’s investigation into the death of the institute’s ace student, Golden Boy, gradually turned into the unraveling of multiple conspiracies. The existence of a supe asylum/prison known as the Woods inside the university premises was revealed, as was the even more disturbing fact that it was intended to study and experiment on supes to serve the God U Dean Indira Shetty’s motive of creating a universal deterrent against the supes.
All of these scandals were covered up by the dean by manipulating Cate,...

The first season of The Boys spinoff Gen V is coming to a close this week, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride as the young supes of God U struggle to decide how to move forward after discovering the true nature of The Woods and its experiments.
With Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) now dead at Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) behest, the threat of the virus seems to be quelled for now, but that doesn’t mean that Cate’s thirst for vengeance has. In the season finale preview, Cate and Sam (Asa Germann) band together to release the people being held in The Woods and seek justice for the atrocities committed against the young supes of God U. Their friends, however, don’t seem too thrilled by the gleam of violence in their eyes as the campus descends into chaos.

Since "Gen V" premiered, it became amply clear that there was something nefarious about The Woods, which seemed like an open secret among the adults occupying the ranks in Vought. As for the young adults, the weight of the truth was too much to bear: Luke/Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) ended up dying by suicide due to the trauma of being mentally toyed with, while his brother Sam (Asa Germann) is currently unable to escape radical indoctrination despite being free. The others — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor/David Luh), Cate (Maddie Philips), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) — wrestle their inner demons over the course of the episodes, trying to help uncover the unsavory secrets that lie beneath Godolkin. Until one of them goes rogue.

One constant among the universe of "The Boys" is that there will always be a non-supe or two at the top of the corporate chain, surviving not through physical strength but through sheer self-preserving strategy. The main show currently has Stan Edgar, a cold-hearted businessman who is inexplicably unfazed by Homelander's many threats over the years. Does Edgar have something up his sleeve, or is he really just that tough and immovable? We still don't know for sure.
On the spin-off's side of things, we have Indira Shetty, the university's new dean, who manages to keep these supe students in line despite knowing that most of them could destroy her with relative ease. And unlike Edgar, Shetty isn't entirely capable of hiding her emotions; a few weeks back the supe detective Tek Knight was able to figure out one of her secrets just from the subtle signs in her body language.

We're well and truly in the home stretch now. Throughout each and every episode of "Gen V," the Prime Video series has taken us further and further into the depths of a whole new conspiracy. And just like that, we’re in the homestretch of The Boys‘ first spinoff Gen V. With only eight episodes in total, the upcoming episode six makes the beginning of the end for this story about the young supes at Godolkin University.
In true Boys fashion, things have been quite violent so far with the self-immolation of Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) kicking off a mystery for our heroes Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Andre (Chance Perdomo), and Sam (Asa Germann) to solve. If that weren’t harrowing enough, episode 5 revealed the culprit of the gang’s memory issues and even set up the surprise return of a beloved Boys character in the form of Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy.

The college-age characters on "Gen V" have some powers that are pretty unique from those we've seen on its parent show, "The Boys." The most mysterious powers, however, belong to Marie (Jaz Sinclair). Sure, we've seen blood-bending in various forms before in other media, but the full extent of Marie's capabilities has yet to be seen. Each episode sees her revealing more elements of her abilities, because an attunement to blood is going to be really powerful. A whole lot of living things are chock-full of the stuff, including humans, which makes her a serious possible threat. Many other supes have some kind of restrictions to their abilities but the only thing that could really short out Marie seems to be losing too much of her own blood, which hasn't come close to happening yet.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Gen V Season 1, Episode 5, “Welcome to the Monster Club.”] The Boys spinoff Gen V is ramping up the drama in its latest episode, “Welcome to the Monster Club,” which answers the biggest question so far, which is what caused Marie (Jaz Sinclair) and her classmates to blackout and wake up at an unfamiliar location. Ultimately, that honor belongs to Golden Boy’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) persuasive girlfriend Cate (Maddie Phillips) who is eventually found out by Emma (Lizze Broadway). She learns the truth when Sam (Asa Germann) tells her about Cate making Golden Boy forget him. While Marie also seemingly comes to the same conclusion, it’s a moment too late as Cate wipes her mind. Contrary to conventional superheroism, The Boys universe promotes an adverse relationship between powers and responsibility, resulting in the so-called superheroes of the world turning out to be its worst offenders more often than not. As a result, the chief superhero management company, Vought International, remains busy covering up the scandals, bloody track records, and other nefarious deeds of the enlisted supes while contriving conspiracies of their own. The Boys highlighted some of the finest machinations orchestrated by the conglomerate, like threatening media and political personnel, experimenting on children, and creating super terrorists; likewise, Gen V gives viewers a peek into Vought’s vile schemes linked with the educational and administrative spheres.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Gen V Season 1 Episode 4 “The Whole Truth.”] Gen V is raising the stakes with each episode as the Supes at the center of this college-set tale become even more wrapped up in the shady doings of Godolkin University. After the death of Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger), the academic institution is paid a visit by investigator Tek Knight (Derek Wilson), who is sent by Vought to find a scapegoat for the late Supe’s downfall. When he surmises that there isn’t anyone good enough to pin the death on, he suggests attaching that guilt to Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn). Ultimately, his intention, as well as Vought’s, is to protect their secret operation known as “The Woods,” where Golden Boy’s brother Sam (Asa Germann) was being held until Emma (Lizze Broadway) helped him escape. When episode 4 of The Boys spinoff Gen V isn’t indulging in breathtaking acts of penile violence, it’s introducing something else the flagship franchise is known for: a truly loathsome supe.
Though the term “supe” in The Boys‘ universe is short for “superhero,” everyone knows by now that there’s little heroic about Vought International’s roster of Compound V-enhanced individuals. “Heroes” on The Boys run the gamut from the mostly decent Annie January a.k.a. Spoilers for "Gen V" follow.
As we've learned through three seasons of "The Boys," if you live in a universe filled with superheroes you should never, ever, have sex with them. They'll accidentally crush your skull during cunnilingus, or worse. It's not that they're bad people exactly; it's that they're not always as in control of their powers as you'd think. And if they spend most of their time among other Supes who can handle the occasional sex-related mishap, they can often forget how fragile a regular human body is.
But even when it comes to Supe-on-Supe sexual relationships, the power imbalance still causes plenty of trouble. When Homelander engaged in a sexual relationship with Doppelganger, a shapeshifter who could transform into his former lover Madeleine Stillwell at will, all it took was one wrong move for Homelander to end up snapping Doppelganger's neck. Even when the Supe isn't accidentally harming you,...

When you thought it couldn't get any weirder, they find a way to dial up the weirdness.
Gen V Season 1 Episode 4 picked up from the bloody ending of the previous episode after Emma scrambled some security guard's brain, and she and Sam had escaped.
The episode didn't have any specific purpose apart from developing the existing conflicts.
It was clear that something peculiar was happening at God U, and Vought could never let a crisis go to waste, so they decided to milk Golden Boy's death for content.
Vought has supes from all walks of life, and Tek Night was a celebrity investigative journalist supe.
Something noticeable about supes from Gen V was that there wasn't anyone we could call evil or deranged.
Tek was awful and inspired fear among his interviewees, which might have been the reason behind his success as an investigative journalist.

This article contains spoilers for "Gen V" episode 4 — "The Whole Truth."
The latest "Gen V" episode, "The Whole Truth," has finally introduced a character often mentioned on the parent show "The Boys" — Tek-Knight/Robert Vernon (Derek Wilson), one of this world's many super "heroes." In this world, Supes are mostly just media stars and Tek-Knight is no different — in fact, he represents one of the most insidious forms of entertainment out there: true crime.
He is the host of "The Whole Truth with Tek-Knight" (streaming on Vought+) and for his latest episode, he's come to Godolkin University. He's there to teach some criminology classes and film an episode about Golden Boy's (Patrick Schwarzenegger) murder-suicide in the series premiere. Of course, he's not there out of any sense of justice, but as a simple tool for his bosses at Vought — his assignment is to pick a patsy and further cover up the truth.

Despite himself being an adept superhero comics writer in the earlier days of his career, the ever-increasing popularity of the said genre has always irritated Garth Ennis, who holds the opinion that both comics and media have been getting saturated by the influx of stories regarding caped avengers. So in a way, The Boys, initially published by one of the imprints (Wildstorm) of DC Comics itself (the irony), was a hit piece against the dominance of the genre, a series that was chock fu tropes, perverted subversions, and Parody of iconic characters. The small-screen adaptation of the comic series of the same name on Amazon Prime goes a step further when it comes to poking fun at existing superhero media and indirectly alludes to other franchises in a pejorative way. Therefore, it is little to no wonder that the spin-off series Gen V will attempt something similar as well.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V Episodes 1 – 3.
It’s completely understandable if you’re having trouble remembering what happened in the first three episodes of Gen V, the teen-set spin-off of superhero satire The Boys. After watching Emma aka Little Cricket (Lizzie Broadway) using her powers to appease a partner’s fantasies, everything else kind of falls away.
But like its parent series, Gen V has a lot more going on than just shocking sex and violence. By focusing on the next generation of Supes, the teens who received powers after being injected with Compound V as children, Gen V adds a layer of soapy drama to the social satire and superhero action.
When Does Gen V Episode 4 Premiere?

Seemingly, having a bunch of phony, deplorable supers posing as Earth’s greatest heroes was not edgy enough for the taste of contemporary audiences and the makers over at Amazon Studios. Therefore, after some soul searching, The Boys universe has found the perfect subject matter to go with its trademark abundance of gore, violence, unaccountability, and irreverence with the release of the latest live-action spin-off series Gen V—hormonal college grads with superpowers.

“Why is this guy picking a fight with Mickey Mouse?” Bill Maher asked Ron DeSantis on Friday about the poll-lagging Florida governor’s ongoing jurisdictional and legal battles with Disney over the past year.
“Well, first of all, they picked a fight with us,” a literally suited and cowboy booted DeSantis replied in Real Time With Bill Maher’s return from the just-ended writers strike. “This idea of ideology-corrupting institutions, I see it in Los Angeles with the amount of crime that’s here and the homelessness,” the deflecting Sunshine State governor went on to say, bashing so-called “woke ideology” and the Center for Disease Control.
Letting DeSantis off the Mouse House hook and the company’s claim of “retaliation” over eventually opposing Florida’s “don’t say gay” parental rights law, a clearly flattered Maher told his guest “we are on the same page.” He then went on to...

Even if the Gen V series premiere was fast-paced, with a lot happening, the decision to introduce the season-long conflict did not turn out to be a bad one.
Gen V Season 1 Episode 2 built on the events of the series premiere and, for that reason, cemented the narrative as something worth following, even for people who weren't the biggest fans of the show based on the series premiere.
We dealt with the aftermath of Luke's suicide, as the show tried to convey what would happen when someone as important as Golden Boy leaves the picture abruptly, leaving a vast vacuum and the people who would rise to occupy that.
None of the characters on the show deserve what they have, whether good or bad.
All the powers they gained by sheer luck, but one can't deny that they've paid the price for having them, and some continue to pay that price to this day.

Gen V definitely has one of the best origin stories for a leading character in any movie or TV series. Spin-off to the hit anti-superhero series The Boys, Gen V is set in Vought’s Godolkin University aka “God U” and it follows the story of a group of young supes trying to learn how to be real heroes. But it is set in The Boys universe, so it couldn’t just be that as we see our heroes getting tangled in a conspiracy that might be too big for them to handle on their own.
Created by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Craig Rosenberg and show run by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Gen V has all the qualities The Boys fans were hoping for and a bit more. The spin-off series comfortably builds on The Boy’s themes with its own weird and fresh spin. The...

For lovers of the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V is a good addition to it.
From incredibly awful characters to blood, superpowers, and the phallus, the show is a good representation of the absolute chaos of the universe.
Gen V Season 1 Episode 1 introduced a new generation of supes -- a very aware generation.
The most significant distinction drawn between these supes and ones from The Boys was that the new generation was aware of their powers' origin, and that made all the difference.
However, before that news got out, most people were unaware of what was happening, and the cold open introduced one such person.
Supes had taken over the world, and seeing the first Black man to join The Seven was a glimmer of hope for Marie's parents.

As a wise man in a superhero movie once said “you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Despite being only a youthful three seasons old, Prime Video’s The Boys currently finds itself in danger of violating Harvey Dent’s rule.
Based on a (mostly awful) comic of the same name, The Boys is about as cynical a superhero satire as you’re ever likely to find. The “supes” in Boys-world are rapists, murderers, fascists, and freaks. And what’s worse, the Vought Corporation propaganda apparatus built around them exists to make them as popular and inoffensive as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The Boys is absolutely scathing in its depiction of a late stage capitalistic system built upon nationalism, hero worship, and misplaced nostalgia.

Throughout the course of three seasons, it has been firmly established that the TV series adaptation of Garth Ennis’ cynical take on the superhero genre, The Boys, is insultingly antithetical to the high ideals the said genre tries to preach. In its existing lore, there are power-crazed, murderous superheroes out and about, taking the reins of a society that worships a psychotic, perverted, fascist, megalomaniac superhero leader. Controlling superhero affairs is a centralized giant conglomerate that controls government and media, thereby manipulating people’s perceptions at every single moment and snuffing out dissent with wanton violence. In short, their world totally mimics that of our own, with a few evil, superpowered individuals acting as catalysts.

There is a preconceived notion that comics writer Garth Ennis dislikes superhero culture with a passion, which is at times quite evident from all the brutally sarcastic jabs he delivered to the genre through some of his seminal works like Hitman. But his most scathing commentary took the form of a bitter deconstruction of the established superhero status quo, The Boys, which has been famously adapted into a TV series by Amazon Prime. Far removed from the idealistic world where superheroes exist to serve justice with honor, the superheroes in The Boys abuse power to their hearts’ fill—an aspect that has clicked with the audience so much that the series has spawned three seasons already, as has the spin-off series Gen V, which has been released recently.

From Prime Video’s “The Boys” comes its new spinoff “Gen V,” which centers on young superheroes who are fighting for their spot in the prestigious super group the Seven.
“Gen V” is centered on the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, an injectable chemical that can turn normal humans into powerful, nearly-unstoppable beings who possess abilities like mighty strength, telekinesis and super speed.
While competing to earn the top ranking at their school, Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, the young heroes will put their skills to the test while juggling their moral compass. And when the school’s dark and twisted secrets come to light, the students must decide between whether they’d like to be a hero or fly another more villainous route.

Plot: Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?

Is “The Boys” a satire of superhero franchises or a superhero franchise itself? Such is the question posed by a show that is, among other things, a cautionary tale about corporate monopoly that airs on Amazon. So far, though, the answer is both — a delicate balance “The Boys” has sustained through three acclaimed seasons, an animated anthology series and, now, a live-action spinoff, the college-set “Gen V.” The contradictions of success may eventually take their toll on the pitch-black comedy and its satellites, which portray so-called superheroes as pawns of the rapacious Vought International. But “Gen V” retains the edge, cynicism and (aptly) adolescent humor that make its parent show tick, suggesting “The Boys” is far from the creative fatigue now plaguing juggernauts like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Amazon’s The Boys has spent three years playing a game of one-upmanship, initially taking the somewhat fatigued superhero genre out behind the woodshed with layers of corporate satire, increasingly salty and nihilistic language and tidal waves of bodily fluids.
As much as I often enjoy The Boys, once most of the competition was left in the R-rated dust, that one-upmanship frequently became self-directed, and as such, has felt like a bit of a creative dead-end. One exploding character became 15. Liters of fake blood dappling walls escalated to vats of viscera, with some sperm for good measure. The show’s ethos has always been “More, more, more,” but not always “More creative, more creative, more creative.”

If Amazon’s The Boys is an R-rated riff on Marvel Comic’s The X-Men, then its new spin-off, Gen V, effectively serves as a similarly twisted take on The New Mutants. Given that both shows are about a universe where superhero content is relentlessly churned out by a soulless megacorporation determined to mine every last cent from its most famous IPs, there’s a certain irony to Gen V’s very existence. But any serious reservations are quickly blown away by how effectively it iterates upon The Boys’s winning formula, serving up another raucous blend of pitch-black humor, extravagant action, and emotional storytelling.
Gen V follows Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), a blood-bending super with a tragic past, as she enrolls in the prestigious Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Run by Vought International, the shady organization that drives this world’s superhero-industrial complex, Godolkin is supposed to be Marie’s ticket to fame,...

Class is in session for The Boys’ long-awaited spinoff, Gen V, set at Godolkin University, “America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes.” And like the Emmy-nominated hit, this one is a special effects–packed mix of comedy, action, and very adult themes. Here’s what viewers can expect. 1. A select Group of Students Are Destined for Big Things. Freshman Marie Moreau (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Jaz Sinclair), an orphan with the ability to manipulate blood, is accepted into the college run by Vought International — the evil corporation behind The Boys’ corrupt superheroes. Early on, she falls in with a clique being groomed for greatness that includes Emma (Ghosted’s Lizze Broadway) and fire-enhanced star pupil Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger of The Staircase). 2. Plenty of Blood, Guts, and Omg Situations Arise… As Marie and her classmates begin to realize the powers that be at Godolkin may not be as...

Prime Video’s The Boys spinoff, Gen V, explores how young superheroes learn to handle their special abilities. It’s not like they can practice setting themselves on fire or altering their size at a normal high school, so these budding superhero superstars attend Godolkin University. (Think Hogwarts but for supes.)
Prime Video promises this spinoff will retain the dark humor of The Boys while focusing on the next generation of supes.
“I think part of the thing that audiences love is that they’re taking the piss out of all of the exhaustive superhero explorations that we’ve seen and turning it all on its head,” explained Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios in an interview with EW. “But I actually think they’ve done it so well that they have earned the right to expand and explore. So, the same irreverence that The Boys has is in Gen V.
