The Emmys must go on, and the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will become the first to hand out awards in this current shelter-at-home environment. The 63rd annual New York Emmy Awards will be announced on Saturday via a pre-produced webcast that could serve as a template for how other awards shows might proceed over the next few months.
The webcast — to be streamed live on the New York Emmy Awards website and on Facebook Live — will feature presenters opening sealed envelopes and announcing winners in 137 categories via remote locations that have been pre-taped all around New York. It takes the place of a gala originally scheduled to be held at the Marriott Marquis hotel on April 18.
“We’re giving it a try to be creative,” said Robert Lazo, NATAS’ interim director of awards and communications. “Yes, it would have been easier just to post a press release,...

My Amityville Horror is a documentary making the rounds on the VOD circuit, and is out in limited release around the country. You can find our review of the film here, but recently we had the opportunity to talk with director Eric Walter about the project.
Before we got started, Eric Walter made it clear that he was a huge Famous Monsters fan, that he’s been one ever since he was a kid, and his dad collected the magazine. Perhaps he still does. Now, he’s come full circle, talking with us about his first feature film, a documentary entitled My Amityville Horror, that delves into the infamous hauntings that took place at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, NY that tore the Lutz family apart and made them household names for decades, as the specter of what did or didn’t happen loomed over the rest of their lives, including one Daniel Lutz,...

While we can prepare ourselves for the found footage The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, there’s more Amityville Horror to be had. Here’s the press release on a prequel happening, courtesy of Styd:
Tony DeRosa-Grund, Executive Chairman of Evergreen Media Group announced today the company has acquired the found footage of famous March 6, 1976 séance conducted by Wnew TV news in the Amityville house in addition to their previously acquired life rights of former Wnew-tv reporters Laura Didio and Marvin Scott to complete the rights package for their true Amityville prequel.
With exclusive new disclosures from the Catholic Church, Evergreen’s Amityville prequel will connect the demonic evil in the Amityville Horror house to the murders of the DeFeo family in the same house two years earlier.
“While the actual story itself is being kept under tight wraps, this will be first time ever that the true prequel...

Allow me to set the stage for this story. In 1979, a bad horror film called The Amityville Horror was released, starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder, that told the story of a family that moves into a house where some murders were committed. They experience some strange things in the house which makes them reconsider staying in their new abode. This was remade into another terrible film in 2005 and starred Ryan Reynolds.
Now, thanks to The Film Stage, we have word that yet another Amityville film is in the works, but this time it will be a prequel. As some of you may know, like several movies out there, this one claims to be “based on a true story,” which already means that it’s most likely not true (like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). However, there have already been many accounts claiming that this “true story” is indeed false.

Right when you think a crappy Ryan Reynolds remake had finally put The Amityville Horror in its grave, news like this has to skirt our way. In a development which, the more you think about it, probably should have been put into motion years back, THR informs us producer Tony DeRosa-Grund is assembling the proper resources for another Amityville extravaganza — with some real-life spookiness. Here’s an obligatory mention of Jason Blum‘s planned reboot of the series.
Now, this is a series which always touted its supposedly fact-based origins — this, in spite of many accounts claiming the original reports are complete fabrications — making it all the more fitting that, even with this silly prospect, they’re striving for some authenticity. DeRosa-Grund, in the interest of this project, has acquired rights to footage composed by reporters Laura Didio and Marvin Scott, a duo who worked for New York’s Wnew-tv...

Ten films apparently aren’t enough for the franchise, as The Amityville Horror prepares to cash in on the ‘found footage’ craze.
The Amityville Horror first shot into the spotlight in 1977 in Jay Anson’s book, The Amityville Horror: A True Story, which tells the story of Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdering six members of his family in 1974, and the paranormal activities experienced by George Lutz and his family, who moved into the house a year later. The ghostly activity was so intense the family left the house after just 28 days in the house.
Horror was on Hollywood’s mind so the little house in Amityville made it to the big screen for the first time in 1979. After a few sequels, the original movie got the reboot treatment by Michael Bay in 2005. Now, the haunted house is returning, this time with a ‘found footage’ angle.
I guess it was bound...

Evergreen Media Group is looking into a new cinematic take on the famous "Amityville Horror" incident reports Bloody Disgusting.
The infamous house saw Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murder six members of his family in 1974. However it was a year later when the house's new tenants, George Lutz and his family, claim to have encountered paranormal horrors that forced them to abandon the property after less than a month.
Said case became the Jay Anson’s 1977 book which has lead to ten movies based on the incident. This take will be based on the experiences of two reporters Laura Didio and Marvin Scott, who investigated the incidents in the Long Island community for New York TV station Wnew.
Didio and Scott were part of a séance that was held in the house on March 6, 1976 for a news report. Didio secured George Lutz’s permission to visit the house and the resulting news report purportedly revealed ghostly presences.

The Amityville Horror franchise has been around for decades and has told the same basic story 10 times already, but unlike the people that once lived in the house it simply doesn't have the courtesy to die. Producer Tony DeRosa-Grund is now planning another version of the Amityville Horror story, only this time it will be told through the ever-so-hip medium of found footage. Like all of the other movies, the new one will be based on a true story, but instead of focusing on people moving into the house it will instead be about people investigating it. THR says the project will largely be based around the experiences of Laura Didio and Marvin Scott, who were journalists out of New York's Wnew-tv. De-Rosa Grund has already acquired the rights to the story. The movie will be set in 1976 and follow Didio, then a 19-year-old cub reporter, who tracked down the...

Honestly, we've lost track of just how many projects there are in various stages of production based upon the tragedy that happened in a Long Island home and the subsequent and largely sensationalized haunting the followed. Either way, great ready to add another one to the fire.
THR reports that producer Tony DeRosa-Grund, executive chairman of the Evergreen Media Group, is looking to mount a new film based on the experiences of two reporters, Laura Didio and Marvin Scott, who investigated the incidents for New York TV station Wnew.
DeRosa-Grund has acquired rights to Didio and Scott’s account of a séance that was held in the house on March 6, 1976, for a news report. As he tells it, Didio was a 19-year-old cub reporter at the time, who tracked down the Lutzes through property records after they fled the house and secured George Lutz’s permission to visit the house.

Thanks to that crazy haunted house house that resides in Amityville, N.Y. we've seen ten films based on the house, and now this latest addition to the Amityville collection that will supposedly be the "first time ever that the true prequel to the Amityville horror will be told.”
Just a little refresher course... Amityville is home to the infamous house in which Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered six members of his family in 1974. George Lutz and his family moved into the house a year later. They were forced to move out of the house 28 days later due to a series of terrifying hauntings they encountered. The case became the subject of Jay Anson’s 1977 book The Amityville Horror: A True Story.

It's Cheyenne On Glee! Squeeeee!
I thought I'd start of this week's column with some fun new pics I found recently!
First, I've got the exclusive first look at Cheyenne Jackson's first appearance on Glee as Will Schuester's new rival Dustin Goulsby.
Don't you love a man in black!
Adam Rose/Fox
In case you don't remember, last month Glee creator Ryan Murphy told me that Jackson "...is going to sing. He is going to dance, of course. He is the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline. He’s a complete villain. He wears all black. He’s a handsome, villain who will become very intertwined in Will’s life."
And we can't wait for Cheyenne's appearance on Tuesday's ep!
Speaking of things I can't wait for is new Torchwood miniseries (Ha! Whoever threw the rotten cabbage at me missed!) so to tide us over are two new pics I spotted of John Barrowman.

Scott Evans attends something wearing a highly questionable outfit.
If you haven't gotten around to watching the True Blood finale (like me), it's still safe to read this interview with the out Denis O'Hare. Most telling is that he doesn't see his character as a villain: In my mind, he’s not the villain. He’s the hero. I play him like a hero. He has his agenda, and his agenda is correct. He has people he loves and he has desires and needs. If you look at it from his point of view — if Eric, Sookie, and Bill are the villains — they do terrible things to him. They double-cross him, they lie to him, they use him. They kill his lover of 700 years. They take from him, then spurn his offerings.
