A teenager is dead and a woman is in critical condition after being struck by lighting at the Utah-Wyoming border, according to the Associated Press. Brooklyn Reynolds, 14, and her stepmom Jayleen Reynolds, 49, were reportedly riding their watercraft in the Flamingo Gorge Reservoir on Friday, when lightning struck, killing the teenager. Jayleen was transported by air to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Daggett County sheriff spokeswoman Susie Potter told the AP. Potter added that Brooklyn's father was also at the reservoir, but on a different boat at the time of the incident. He was reportedly treated at the scene for shock.

Everything '80s or '90s seems to be getting a reboot nowadays, for better or worse, and the 1995 coming-of-age movie "Now and Then" almost had its own TV series. "Pretty Little Liars" boss Marlene King wrote the movie, which starred Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore in the 1970s-set "Then" roles, and Rosie O'Donnell, Demi Moore, Rita Wilson, and Melanie Griffith in the "Now" section.
Marlene talked to Entertainment Weekly about the making of the film, including how Leonardo DiCaprio was originally cast in the Vietnam vet role that went to Brendan Fraser -- and discussed what went wrong with the TV series that was in development at one point.
Here's what she had to say about that:
Yes, we talked about that. It was on ABC Family but they wanted to change it so the "now" was present day and the "then" would be the '90s.

All for one and one for all! Can you believe it's been 20 years since "Now & Then" hit theaters? We can still remember watching the coming-of-age flick like it was yesterday. "Now & Then" tells the story of four childhood friends: Chrissy (Rita Wilson/Ashleigh Aston Moore), Teeny (Melanie Griffith/Thora Birch), Samantha (Demi Moore/Gaby Hoffmann) and Roberta (Rosie O'Donnell/Christina Ricci). The flick was told via flashbacks, after the now-grown women reunited for the birth of one of their kids. During the ladies homecoming, they recount what happened that fateful summer of 1970 -- when each of their lives forever changed. From dealing with parents to puberty, boys and "Crazy Pete," their friendship was the only thing that remained a constant. Needless to say, the core cast has continued to steal the big and small screens since appearing in the 1995 drama, and the movie solidified Devon Sawa's '90s heartthrob status.

The cult-classic coming-of-age dramedy "Now and Then" features Gabby Hoffman, Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, and Ashleigh Aston Moore as Samantha, Roberta, Teeny, and Chrissy, four friends learning about life and love in 1970.
Pretend, for a moment, that Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Melanie Griffith, and Rita Wilson didn't play their grown-up counterparts in the 1995 movie, and that the young ladies instead blossomed into four iconic Manhattan-based besties.

Aw, little Teeny is not so tiny anymore -- Thora Birch turns 31 years old today! The adorable actress who played the loveable pre-teen in "Now and Then" has had huge success since starring in the cult classic. The popular film followed four 12-year-old best friends during their very eventful summer filled with love, some mystery and heartbreak, set in a small suburban town in the 1970s. Since starring in the popular flick, which featured stars like Demi Moore, Melanie Griffith, Rosie O'Donnell and Rita Wilson playing the girls' older selves, Thora's gone on to land roles in box office hits like "American Beauty," "Anywhere But Here" and "Deadline." Sadly, Birch's co-star Ashleigh Aston Moore (who played Chrissy) reportedly passed away from pneumonia in 2007 and Walter Sparrow, who played Crazy Pete, also passed away in 2000.Find out what the rest of the star-studded cast has been up to by clicking "Launch Gallery" above!

Fans of the 1995 coming-of-age movie "Now and Then" were thrilled to hear that I. Marlene King, who wrote the original film and co-created "Pretty Little Liars," is developing a TV adaptation for ABC Family.
And now -- there's even better news for fans of the original.
Gabby Hoffman, who played young Sam in the original "Now and Then," told Vulture that she'd be up to make a guest appearance. "I think I'd like to do some sort of dance scene cameo," she told the site. "Like maybe a stark view of what happens when you get older, but on the dance floor. An interpretative dance about aging, if you will."
No word yet from King or ABC Family if that will happen, but the original "Now and Then" followed four best friends in Indiana spending a memorable summer together -- solving mysteries, getting first kisses, riding bikes -- and spend...

Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, the nostalgia-heavy 1995 basic cable standard "Now and Then" was memorable for the way it suggested its prime crop of the era's teen actresses -- Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann and Ashleigh Aston Moore -- matched up with Rosie O'Donnell, Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore and Rita Wilson, the equally prominent ensemble of grown-up performers playing the characters' adult selves. The film's writer I. Marlene King has since gone on to create and produce "Pretty Little Liars" on ABC Family, a guilty-pleasure teen mystery/thriller about a clique of girls harboring secrets and trying to discover what led to the disppearance of their former friend. "Pretty Little Liars" is currently in its third season, and the success of the show (it's ABC Family's top-rated series) has King looking to develop "Now and Then" into a drama for the network as well. ...

The favorite childhood movie of many an '80s-born little girl could be making a reappearance. A TV version of "Now & Then" -- which starred famous folks like Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Melanie Griffith and Christina Ricci -- is in development at ABC Family.
I. Marlene King, the woman behind the network's current hit "Pretty Little Liars," wrote the screenplay for the 1995 film, and Variety reports she is currently working on a TV adaptation. It's in the earliest stages of development and likely wouldn't even film a pilot until 2013, but still -- a "Now & Then" movie! So exciting.

Before she was the showrunner for Pretty Little Liars, I. Marlene King wrote the screenplay for the 1995 slumber-party staple Now and Then. Now there's talk of her combining these treasures into a Now and Then–based TV series for ABC Family, Variety reports. King and the network are still in the early stages of developing the show, so a finished product is pretty far off — but that just gives us more time to figure out how to Larp inside the idea of a TV show. Except for Ashleigh Aston Moore, who died in 2007, the actresses who played the kids in the movie are now juuuust about the right age to play the grown-ups in this new imagining ...
