The Italian premieres of Cannes Film Festival opener Jeanne du Barry starring Johnny Depp and Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny will be among the international highlights of the 69th Taormina Film Festival which gave a taster of its line-up at a press conference in Rome on Tuesday.
Principal cast for James Mangold’s Indiana Jones reboot including Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies and Mads Mikkelsen are expected to be in attendance for the screening.
The event, unfolding June 23 to July 1 in Sicily, is under the new co-artistic directorship of Barrett Wissman this year.
There will also be Italian premieres for Lisa Cortes’s Little Richard: I Am Everything, a documentary about the life and career of the legendary musician, and A.V. Rockwell’s A Thousand and One, starring Teyana Taylor.

Italy’s Minerva Pictures has unveiled its Cannes Market slate which includes Ukrainian historical epic Dovbush as well as Italian family comedy And Suddenly it’s Christmas and Mexican thriller Black Minutes.
Dovbush is an action film directed by Oles Sanin about Oleksa Dovbush, a real-life 18th-century Robin Hood of sorts who formed a group of outlaws that robbed rich landowners in the Carpathian Mountains to give to poor Ukrainian villagers.

The first teaser trailer is out for Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino's new film Loro (Them) about Italy's billionaire media mogul and four-time prime minister.
In typical Sorrentino fashion, the movie features loud music, richly saturated cinematography from Luca Bigazzi and his favorite co-conspirator, Toni Servillo, playing Silvio Berlusconi.
Berlusconi's infamous "Bunga Bunga" parties play throughout the trailer. Elena Sofia Ricci portrays Berlusconi's estranged wife Veronica Lario. Ricky Memphis and Riccardo Scamarcio also star in the film.

The ninth Rome Film Festival (Oct 16-25) has revealed a diverse line-up including the Italian premieres for potential awards contenders including David Fincher’s Gone Girl. the world premiere of Takashi Miike’s As the Gods Will and Burhan Qurbani’s We are Young, We are Strong and European premiere of Oren Moverman’s Time Out of Mind, Toronto hit Still Alice and Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet.
This year for the first time the award-winners in each section of the programme will be decided by the audience on the basis of votes cast after the screenings.
Each section has changed name and focus for 2014 and are all competitive, resulting in the festival’s structure being “slimmer’.

Rome -- The Fifth Wheel (L'ultima ruota del carro), Giovanni Veronesi's comedy about an unlikely everyman-type hero, will premiere as the opening film of the Eighth Rome Film Festival, organizers said Thursday. The production, which stars Cannes best actor honoree Elio Germano in the main role, along with Alessandra Mastronardi and Ricky Memphis, will screen out of competition in the Santa Cecilia venue that during the festival is transformed into Rome's largest cinema.
