King Charles III and Prince William’s parts in 2022’s Platinum Jubilee concert weren’t a “coincidence,” according to Omid Scobie’s Endgame. In the newly-released book about the British royal family’s future, the author painted a picture of the Prince of Wales as what’s coming. Meanwhile, his father, King Charles, is seen simply as the one who will “pave the way.”
William and the king’s Platinum Jubilee concert remarks were indicative of their ‘true next stage’ and ‘bridge’ status
June 2022’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend celebrated the late Queen Elizabeth II’s landmark 70 years on the throne. While she was the one being honored over four days of festivities, the weekend’s star-studded concert hinted at what’s next.
Namely, King Charles’s reign followed by William’s. As such, the two were very much in the spotlight during the celebration, with their respective roles of “transitional...

Prince William and Kate Middleton are coming under fire for their October 2023 appearance to mark the U.K.’s Black History Month. In addition to questioning the Prince and Princess of Wales’s motives, a royal commentator says the joint appearance felt “too late” after multiple race scandals and Meghan Markle’s 2020 departure.
William and Kate marked Black History Month and the Windrush generation anniversary on October 3
After multiple solo appearances, William and Kate reunited to kick off the U.K.’s Black History Month. On Oct. 3, 2023, the parents of three visited Cardiff, Wales.
There, they greeted students, met with those of the Windrush Generation, played ping pong, and chatted with members of the Ethnic Minority Youth Forum.
The appearance coincided with the start of Black History Month on October 1, 2023, as well as the 75-year anniversary of the Hmt Empire Windrush, the ship that brought Caribbean migrants to Britain in 1948, per Newsweek.

Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page features 10 standout drama series scripts in 2023 Emmy contention. It showcases the critical role writers’ work plays in a show’s success. All materials (the script and writers intro) were submitted before the WGA strike began on May 2.
It would have been easy for Netflix’s Emmy-winning The Crown to recreate Princess Diana’s infamous BBC interview with Martin Bashir by simply having Elizabeth Debicki, as Her Royal Highness, deliver the entire transcript from a makeshift Kensington Palace. But series creator Peter Morgan, was more interested in showing the drama behind the scenes, like how executives at the BBC wrestled over airing the interview and how Diana had doubts about Bashir and whether she could actually trust him.

The Duke of Sussex has described how “terrifying” it was to have his brother, the Prince of Wales, shout and scream at him at the Sandringham summit in front of the Queen during the Megxit crisis.
The duke’s claim is one of many revelations outlined in the final episodes of the couple’s Netflix docuseries, which also saw the pair condemn the treatment of Meghan at the hands of the media, and speak openly about her mental health struggles during their time as senior royals.
The final episodes also included lighter moments, such as when the couple mock the size of Nottingham Cottage, the residence on the grounds of Kensington Palace where they lived temporarily after their royal wedding.
Both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace declined to comment on the latest episodes. However, the royal family put on a united front when they attended the Princess of Wales’ second...

The BBC has been forced onto the defensive over its coverage of the Netflix Harry & Meghan series after receiving a string of complaints stating it had been “excessive and promoting Netflix.”
The BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit reported the complaints late last week, of which there would likely have been dozens although numbers aren’t revealed. The complaint was not deemed to be in breach of the BBC’s editorial guidelines and will likely not be taken further.
Complaints centered on “our coverage of the Netflix series Harry & Meghan being excessive and that we have been promoting Netflix,” said the report.
Defending itself, the BBC said Archewell’s show, which dropped first three episodes Thursday and was given extensive coverage in the British tabloid press, had been “widely anticipated, with speculation as to what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may say about their experiences within the Royal Family,...

Succession star Brian Cox has given his thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s allegations of racism against the royal family.
In a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Markle accused an unidentified member of the royal family of raising concerns about the colour of the couple’s son Archie’s skin.
Buckingham palace said in a statement at the time: “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”
Cox was interviewed by Good Morning Britain last night (6 December) at the Ripple of Hope gala, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had received an anti-racism award.
“I don’t know what went on, but something clearly traumatic went on for the pair of them,” said Cox. “I don’t think they made it up, I don’t think it’s false.

Graham Norton took aim at the royal family during the opening of his eponymous chat show on Friday (2 December).
Starting as he always does with some topical jokes, Norton showed the audience a photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton attending a recent basketball match in Boston, USA.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled and fascinated if I were Prince William looking at a basketball,” Norton said in front of the photo, which showed William looking perplexed at the ball.
“Has he never seen one before?” He asked incredulously. “It’s like his godmother talking to a Black person.”
Norton was mocking the recent scandal involving Lady Susan Hussey, a former lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Elizabeth II and William’s godmother.

A senior aide to the royal family has resigned after making some “unacceptable” comments to a black woman who visited Buckingham Palace.
Lady Susan Hussey, a close aide to the late Queen, apologized and stepped down from her position after making “offensive” remarks to Ngozi Fulani, founder of the charity Sistah Space.
Hussey is Prince William’s godmother.
Fulani posted about the interaction to Twitter via her organization’s account, saying she had “mixed feelings” about the royal visit. She wrote out the conversation that took place when Hussey approached her at the event.
According to the post, the 83-year-old aide asked Fulani “what part of Africa are You from?” and continued to press her when Fulani repeatedly answered that she was British.
She detailed the following interaction:
“Sh: No, but where do you really come from, where do your people come from?
Me: ‘My people,’ lady, what is this?...
