Netflix finally unveiled an official teaser for the second season of The Sandman yesterday, and it featured a first glimpse of Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, and Barry Sloane as The Prodigal.
Though we did get to see Delirium's face, her full visage was somewhat obscured, and this new behind-the-scenes photo gives us a better look at the Hanna star in-costume as the youngers of The Endless.
In Neil Gaiman's comics, Delirium is the current manifestation of the being that started out as Delight. The character is a little... mixed up, but is loyal to her family and proves to be an invaluable ally to Dream during the events of "Brief Lives."
Check out the photo below along with yesterday's teaser.

Dreamers awaken! The Sandman saga is back in production, preparing to bring new phantasmagorical episodes — conjured from Neil Gaiman’s iconic graphic novel, which debuted 35 years ago today — to the screen. And it’s finally time to find out who has been cast as Endless family members Destiny, Delirium, and The Prodigal.
“This week we officially restart production on the next sequence of stories of The Sandman for Netflix,”wrote Gaiman in a letter to fans in November 2023.“Genius showrunner Allan Heinberg and the countless people in front of and behind the camera are building something endlessly special, and bringing these stories to life in a way that would once have been unimaginable.”
When we last wandered into the dream world, the magnificently coiffed realm-lord Morpheus aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) and his cadre of companions faced down an impending onslaught of Lucifer’s (Gwendoline Christie) hell-spawned legions. Now, the Endless...

The Endless have assembled!
Netflix has shared a brief teaser for the second season of The Sandman, reintroducing the members of The Endless we met during season 1, Dream, Death, Desire and Despair, while providing our first glimpse of Morpheus' remaining siblings, Destiny, Delirium, and "The Prodigal."
Esmé Creed-Miles will play the youngest of the Endless, Delirium, while Adrian Lester will take on the role of the all-seeing Destiny, and Barry Sloane will play The Prodigal.
Anyone who has read Neil Gaiman's comic series will know who this really is, and while it wouldn't seem like much of a spoiler to reveal the name, it's clearly something the show is choosing to keep under wraps for the time being.

Their characters can be seen in this promo clip:

As movies and TV shows have become the dominant mode of superhero storytelling, some comic writers have crossed mediums with the characters they pen. Allan Heinberg wrote a brief run on "Wonder Woman" and years later wrote the screenplay for the 2017 "Wonder Woman" movie. Brian Michael Bendis, the defining Marvel Comics writer of the 2000s, sat on Marvel Studios' now-disbanded "creative committee." James Gunn, as the co-head of DC Studios, has brought writer Tom King into the fold.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," which brings the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the latest example of this; one of the movie's five credited co-writers is Zeb Wells, who also wrote an episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." For some Marvel Comic fans, however, his name lives in infamy.
Now, Wells' "X-Men" related work is well-regarded. The 18-issue series "Hellions" was like a mutant version of "Suicide Squad...

Whether it’s using her lasso to get the truth out of her enemies or her gauntlets capable of trapping energy and using it to her advantage, Wonder Woman has some pretty cool abilities. And that’s not even getting into her crazy speed and jumping ability. While we may not have gotten her invisible jet, the other staples of Wonder Woman are all there, so join us on today’s DC Revisited as we dive into Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman.
While we may have finally received a Wonder Woman via Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman, the project had actually been in development for quite some time. Comedy director Ivan Reitman was even attached to the film as a producer in 1996. Then in ’99, Jon Cohen was tapped by now-producer Joel Silver to write a Wonder Woman script. He was even eyeing Sandra Bullock to star in the title role.

Season 1 of Netflix's "The Sandman" wasn't quite the great Neil Gaiman adaptation some of the storyteller's fans have been waiting for. It nevertheless set the series (which is far from strictly a fantasy drama) on the path to becoming the next best thing to reading Gaiman's original comics. That it was able to stay faithful to the spirit of its source material while including some welcome modifications -- some of which, admittedly, were more superficial than others in the way they modernize the "Sandman" universe -- is all the more reason to remain hopeful about the show's future.
Of course, it also helps that Gaiman's earlier "Sandman" comic books (which formed the basis of season 1) are generally agreed to be the weakest of the lot, compared to what comes after. With the best of the saga of Morpheus still on the horizon, fans have been...

Only a handful of writers in television history have built a bona fide empire. Few who have done so have been women or PoC. Regardless of what you think of her shows, TV royalty Shonda Rhimes deserves respect for her groundbreaking success. Rhimes' workplace dramas have biting dialogue, steamy workplace affairs, and characters fighting tooth and nail to win. There's a passionate fandom surrounding her work, which makes the viewing experience doubly exciting.
With eleven shows underneath the "Shondaland" banner, it's not a surprise that not all of them are hits. Few contemporary shows have come anywhere close to matching the success of her first project, "Grey's Anatomy," and each subsequent series, in some way, has to contend with that legacy. After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman finally emerged into the world as a Netflix series back at the start of August. (Read our review Here.) Three months later, Netflix ordered more of The Sandman – but fans noticed that they didn’t say it was going to be “a new season” or “season 2” of the show. Instead, Netflix said, “The Sandman will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.” Variety managed to score an interview with Netflix’s head of scripted TV in the US and Canada, Peter Friedlander, and during their conversation they asked Friedlander why The Sandman season 2 wasn’t announced as season 2.

It took Neil Gaiman 30 years to get a proper adaptation of “The Sandman” made, and what felt like 30 more years for Netflix to renew the fantasy epic following its August premiere.
In reality, it was just three months, but those were a long three months for viewers who watched “The Sandman” hold steady on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language titles list week after week (and receive a bump when its top-secret 11th episode dropped two weeks after the first batch launched).
“We wanted to spend the time to get creatively aligned around what would be the next, best experience with ‘The Sandman,'” Netflix’s head of Ucan scripted TV Peter Friedlander told Variety. “And because of that, we wanted to spend the time with [showrunner Allan Heinberg] and Neil and really talk through and be thoughtful about what the approach should be — because Season 1 is also very thoughtful and intentional. Exclusive: David Zaslav isn’t happy with Netflix.
The Warner Bros. Discovery boss has been railing against his rival’s payment terms in a move that could potentially open up a new front in the streaming wars.
It’s a topic that has come to the fore after one big TV series – The Sandman, the Warner Bros. Television-produced fantasy drama was recently renewed for a second season at Netflix.
The crux of the issue is that Zaslav is unhappy with the way that Netflix deals are structured, essentially paying producers over the course of 18 to 24 months. This is not a new discovery, Netflix changed the way that it parses payments a few years ago.
But Zaslav is now in charge of one of its largest outside suppliers – Warner Bros. Television, which in addition to Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, makes Netflix originals such as Sweet Tooth, which comes from Robert Downey Jr.,...

Netflix has renewed The Sandman starring Tom Sturridge as Dream and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer for a second season. Netflix didn’t confirm the plot or number of season two episodes but did offer this tease of the new season:
“When last we left Dream (Sturridge) and his friends and foes, the forces of hell were on the move, led by Lucifer themself (Christie). The new episodes of the series will dive into that conflict and continue to explore the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence.”
The series is based on the popular DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman and was developed by Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg. All three are involved as writers and executive producers, with Heinberg also guiding the series as showrunner.

“The Sandman” is returning to Netflix. The streaming platform has officially renewed the Neil Gaiman series based on the DC Comics universe, expanding the franchise with new episodes based on other stories from the graphic novels.
Leading up to Wednesday’s evening announcement, there was rampant speculation among Netflix subscribers about whether “The Sandman” would be renewed or was even canceled, despite its success, even leading Gaiman to dispute a tweet from a fan account online. And while Netflix has renewed “The Sandman,” it’s not exactly coming back for a Season 2, as the show will focus on other aspects of the conflict between Dream and the forces of Hell, exploring the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence. The number of episodes and all plot specifics have been kept under wraps to this point.

If you've been suffering through the nightmare of Netflix no longer acknowledging the existence of "The Sandman," then you're in luck. Netflix has reportedly renewed the Neil Gaiman adaptation for a second season, according to insiders at Deadline. These reports come after DC Comics deleted a tweet regarding its renewal earlier today.
Needless to say, this is pretty exciting. Even though the first season of "The Sandman" had a few translation issues from page to screen, it was brimming with potential. It is clear from the show's writing that the team, headed up by showrunner Allan Heinberg, truly understood the stories they were adapting. Not only that, but the writing was brought to life by a cast that wasn't just sleepwalking their way through their characters.
Having it get another season will allow them to iron out the kinks, thus potentially resulting in the best Gaiman adaptation we've gotten yet.

It sure seems that people like The Sandman. The long-in-development adaptation of the influential DC Comics series finally came to Netflix on Aug. 5, and almost immediately gained a following. Fans took to Tom Sturridge’s complex portrayal of Dream aka Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming. Over the initial 10 episodes, fans tuned in to watch Morpheus gain his items back from the troubled John Dee (David Thewlis), capture the rogue nightmare the Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), and contend with guest stars such as Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer and Jenna Coleman’s Johanna Constantine. So popular was the show that Netflix even dropped a surprise bonus episode, which adapted fan-favorite stories “Dream of a Thousand Cats” and “Calliope.”

In another timeline, perhaps, Michael Jackson could have played Morpheus, aka the Lord of Dreams and title character of “The Sandman,” creator Neil Gaiman revealed.
It’s long been known that an on-screen adaptation of the beloved comic book series has been in the works in various stages for years, including a film version announced in 2013 with Joseph Gordon-Levitt set to produce and later star. As it turns out, he wasn’t the only one interested in the role.
Amid the Netflix series’ three-decade-long journey to get made, Gaiman said in a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that top brass at Warner Bros. told him of the King of Pop’s interest in the part.

Amid the Netflix series’ three-decade-long journey to get made, Gaiman said in a recent appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that top brass at Warner Bros. told him of the King of Pop’s interest in the part.

Now that "The Sandman" has dropped its excellent bonus episode, fans are anxiously awaiting news of the show being picked up for a second season. Netflix has yet to make a decision unfortunately, but that hasn't stopped creator Neil Gaiman and showrunner Allan Heinberg from plotting season 2 and beyond. Both previously touched on which comic arcs they were most excited to tackle and Heinberg's in particular, were further down the line than even season 2 would likely get.
"The Sandman" bonus episode, which adapted "A Dream of a Thousand Cats" and "Calliope," introduces the titular Muse, but also reveals that not only were Dream (Tom Sturridge) and Calliope (Melissanthi Mahut) once married, but they also had a son together. Not much is said, though we know some tragedy befell him, resulting in a terrible falling out between his parents. The episode makes some incredibly smart changes, especially to Calliope's story, that really make this adaption sing.

This post contains spoilers for Netflix’s The Sandman season one DC’s The Sandman Comics
The current state of DC Comics live-action adaptations may be up in the air, but there has been one bright spot in recent weeks. After more than a decade of false starts and development failures, Neil Gaiman‘s great Vertigo comic The Sandman has come to television screens. Even more surprising, it’s really good. Even as the show changes some details from the comics, downplaying its larger DC Universe connections, it still retains all of the beauty and horror that made the original series an enduring classic.
Best of all, the show has turned out to be a hit, both in terms of viewership and word-of-mouth buzz. So popular was the first season that Netflix dropped a surprise bonus episode, adapting two of the best stand-alone stories, “A Dream of a Thousand Cats” and “Calliope.

In 2022, the veil between waking life and dreams is razor-thin. A 2021 survey found that three out of five Americans felt more exhausted than ever. With many still working from home in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, bedrooms are nebulous spaces that house sleep and service alike. Pop entertainment responded accordingly. Disney +'s "Moon Knight" concerned a hero who couldn't tell the difference between his awoken and slumberous states. The fourth season of "Stranger Things," a smash that yielded that 2022 song of summer, featured a villain who invaded people's minds and made their nightmares reality. Now comes Netflix's "The Sandman," the long-awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman's seminal horror comic about Morpheus, the king of dreams, and those who would strip his power from him.
