The atmosphère and tension set up in the first episode and kept until the 5th or 6th are fantastic.
Let's start by the drawing : it is gorgeous and creates an ambiance that is definitely evocative of you would expect of Japan in the 17th century. Although I'm not sure if what we expect is the actual historical truth, the poetic image is here and is great to dive into.
The story that is set up is exiting. Following the adventures of that revengeful and extremely gifted warrior is really easy because you get caught up into it almost instantly.
I was a bit disappointed by the 2-3 last episodes that are a bit over the top in terms of credibility (the final battle scenes become increasingly way too much to believe in) but also that have the Netflix signature in them : « dilute the story a bit, make sure there's no ending and prepare for a follow up that may or may not be credible but who cares. »
If it leads to a season 2, I'll be happy to watch it, dispite the risk of losing the Japanese ambiance that made this season so nice.
