It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. It brought Meloni back to the world of Law & Order in 2021, via a two-part crossover with...

Kristen Johnston will star alongside Leanne Morgan in the latter’s upcoming Netflix comedy series, Variety has learned.
The untitled multi-cam comedy was picked up at Netflix in April with a 16-episode order. Morgan co-created the series with Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre. The role marks a reunion for Lorre and Johnston, as Johnston previously appeared in the CBS multi-cam “Mom,” which Lorre also co-created.
The official description for Morgan’s series states: “Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”
Johnston will star in the series regular role of Carol, Leanne’s sister. The character is said to be Leanne’s complete opposite.

If you haven’t, allow us to paint you a picture: Lana (Brooke Shields) has traveled all the way to Thailand for her daughter’s wedding, only to discover that her new son-in-law’s father (Benjamin Bratt) is the man who broke her heart many years ago. It’s official: Andy Cohen’s run at the clubhouse will continue for at least another year.
Bravo announced today that Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen has been renewed through the end of 2025. The live late-night pop culture show first debuted in July 2009.
While Cohen himself recently said he’d like to continue the show, the renewal puts to rest some speculation that had cropped up about Wwhl’s future.
Last month, Deadline debunked rumors that Cohen was negotiating an exit from Bravo as he faced harassment allegations from Real Housewives stars Leah McSweeney and Brandi Glanville. Alongside Wwhl’s renewal today, Bravo announced that it had ordered an outside investigation of the charges against Cohen, and that he’d been cleared.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Hacks Season 3, Episode 3, “The Roast of Deborah Vance.”] Hacks explored the familiar world of comedy roasts in one of its latest episodes, appropriately titled, “The Roast of Deborah Vance,” and stepping up to the plate for the big event was Deborah’s (Jean Smart) daughter DJ (Kaitlin Olson). Not a stand-up in the slightest, DJ relies on the concept of a catchphrase to garner laughter from the audience, and despite initial doubts from Ava (Hannah Einbinder), the phrase becomes a hit when she takes to the stage. Make-up design doesn’t always mean prosthetics or extremes — that’s why the Emmy Awards smartly single out contemporary make-up design as its own category. But too often, those more immediately arresting designs are the ones that get all the attention. Not anymore. Join IndieWire in celebrating the make-up artists creating subtle, character-specific work for contemporary characters with our series, “Making Up Is Hard to Do.”
“Hacks” is a show of contrasts, and that tells in the makeup design, too. Part of the joy of the three-season sparring match between Vegas standup stalwart Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and L.A. comedy writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) is how different they are. Their makeup reflects this. Deborah requires a base level of glam before she considers herself fully dressed, while Ava, representing smart girls everywhere who grew up post-Title IX, actively repels the idea of cultivating a look. At least initially.

On Thursday afternoon, Fiona Harvey came forward to set the record straight about Baby Reindeer, the Netflix sensation, which Richard Gadd reportedly based on his real-life experience being stalked by a woman, called Martha in the series and portrayed by Jennifer Gunning. In a testy YouTube interview with Piers Morgan, she explained her reasons for believing the story is false enough to deserve her filing a lawsuit against Gadd, Netflix, and others associated with the series. In the nearly one-hour-long interview, Harvey denied stalking Gadd, saying it was “completely untrue” and “very defamatory to me…. I’m not a stalker. I’ve not been to jail. I’ve got no injunctions.” Harvey complained that she received no apologies from Gadd, the streaming service, or others associated with the show, even after being harassed by “internet sleuths”: “[They] tracked me down and hounded me and gave me death threats, so it...

Even before 9-1-1 Season 7, fans have wondered if the drama would eventually pair Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) together romantically. And now, with this season featuring Buck exploring his bisexuality—he’s with former 118 member Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.)—the question does have to be asked if the show could go there with him and his best friend. “We just got to the point where Buck is having this own personal growth of himself, so it’s like baby steps towards anything and if anything,” Guzman tells TV Insider. Furthermore, he’s especially enjoying what this arc is “showcasing on national television: a bisexual man coming out to a heterosexual man and having the strength to do such, and then having the heterosexual man giving that man a safe space to be caught in and to be loved and nurtured. I think there’s still an air...

Taye Diggs is returning to All American as Billy Baker! The thing is, though… Billy Baker died. Here’s all there is to know about this mysterious return to The CW sports series. Diggs will return as Billy for a guest-star appearance in All American Season 6, which is currently airing on Mondays on The CW following its May 6 premiere, according to Deadline. Diggs will appear in the episode that airs on Monday, May 20, and the appearance perhaps makes more sense when you realize that this will be the week before All American‘s 100th episode (airing May 27). The father and football coach was last seen in All American Season 5 Episode 11, “Time,” when he died saving his players after their bus got in an accident. While plot details about Diggs’ return are being kept under wraps for now, it will presumably be in some kind of flashback scene (or scenes!). Bringing...

Last Week Tonight can’t stop collecting awards—even outside Emmy season.
John Oliver’s HBO show just won its third Peabody Award, this time for an episode covering the Israel-Hamas War.
The program was among 27 nominees announced last month in the Arts, Children’s/Youth, Entertainment, and Interactive & Immersive categories. The nomination specifically recognized the November 2023 episode titled “Israel-Hamas War.”
In announcing the show’s win today, The Peabody Awards Board of Jurors wrote: “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver offered an important corrective to the media landscape awash in misinformation and decontextualized vitriol just weeks after October 7,” it said. “Though ostensibly a ‘comedy’ show, Last Week offered one of the best encapsulations of the conflict in all of media.”
Oliver’s show is now 3-for-3 at the Peabody Qwards. It was nominated and won in 2015, and again in 2018.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
Ten weeks deep and “Palm Royale” showrunner Abe Sylvia is still processing the success of his shimmering spring TV hit.
“I certainly live in an echo chamber on social media, so I’m seeing lots of ways in which it infiltrated culture,” the executive producer told IndieWire. “But I felt like we really crossed over when I saw that Ramona Singer from ‘Real Housewives’ was dressed for a ‘Palm Royale’-themed cocktail party. That’s when I went, ‘Uh-oh, something has changed here. Something has shifted.'”

Filming is officially underway on Frasier Season 2 at Paramount+. The streaming platform confirmed on May 9 that Peri Gilpin will return in her iconic role of Roz Doyle in the new season following his appearance in Season 1. Gilpin will appear as a recurring guest star. Kelsey Grammer is all giddy smiles as he rides a bike down the Paramount lot to the Frasier soundstage in the video teaser announcing the beginning of production (below). He must be pleased that the legendary James Burrows is coming back to direct two episodes in the new season! Produced by CBS Studios, Frasier’s sophomore season will return to film in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. The series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and — with hope — finally fulfill an old dream or two.

Paramount+ also announced on Thursday that production has officially begun on Frasier’s sophomore season, releasing a video of series star Kelsey Grammer biking his way to the show’s studio lot soundstage as the familiar “Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs” plays in the background. [Warning: The following contains details about the non-fiction book on which Starz’s Mary & George is based.] History gets a re-write in The King’s Assassin: The Fatal Affair of George Villiers and James I. The non-fiction book, written by Benjamin Woolley, is the basis of Starz‘s sexy period drama Mary & George and examines evidence suggesting that George Villiers really did kill King James I like his enemies accused after the Scottish king’s death in March 1625. Will Mary & George end the same way? Here’s what the book tells us about how the Starz drama could potentially conclude. George Villiers, with the help of his mother Mary, pulled off a meteoric rise when connecting himself with King James I in 1615. James was so enraptured with George that he publicly expressed his desire for George to be his “wife.” For the decade that followed, George was always by James’ side whether it be matters of court, ...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains spoilers for the season finale of “The Girls on the Bus.”]
In the Season 1 finale of Max’s “Girls on the Bus,” Sadie (Melissa Benoist) has a tense conversation with Governor Walker (Hettienne Park) that had been building all season. And that’s hardly all.
Walker is a pretty obvious stand-in for Hillary Clinton in the show’s version of a Democratic presidential primary. In Episode 10, written by co-creator Amy Chozick, Walker has just learned that, despite being the most experienced and likely best person for the job, she was going to fall short of getting the necessary delegates to clench the nomination for president. Political journo Sadie comes to speak to Gov. Walker while she’s drowning her sorrows on a campaign bus, and apologizes for how her coverage of her has hurt her over the years — but also lay out her own frustrations about the enigma that is the governor.

It’s been six years since Olympics superfan Lesie Jones last traveled with NBC to help cover the games, but the former SNL cast member (and current Daily Show contributor) is coming back.
Jones is the third late-night comic to be added to the network’s coverage of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
She joins Jimmy Fallon, who will be co-hosting the Closing Ceremony alongside NBC Sports commentator Mike Tirico, and Kenan Thompson, who’s set to co-host an Olympic recap series with Kevin Hart on Peacock.
Jones is no stranger to NBC’s Olympics coverage. In 2016, the network invited her to join their Rio de Janeiro coverage following her live-tweeting of the event went viral. She returned for the Winter Olympics in Korea in 2018.
This year’s summer games will mark her first time on-site at an Olympics in 6 years, since the previous two were covered remotely amid the pandemic.

Comedian Andrew Schulz revealed on the “Flagrant” interview series that he was instructed not to make jokes at Netflix’s Tom Brady roast related to Robert Kraft’s 2019 arrest for soliciting prostitution in a Florida massage parlor. Charges against Kraft were dropped the following year. When Kraft’s attendance was confirmed at the event, roasters were allegedly told not to make jokes about “happy endings” in relation to the Patriots owners.
“When Tom checked Jeff Ross, I think that was 100% real,” Schulz said. “The reason why I think it’s real is because they told us no jokes about happy endings with Bob Kraft.

When Jason Parham found out that “Insecure” executive producer Prentice Penny was on board to adapt his “Wired” article about Black Twitter, he had a pinch-me moment. “Is this a joke?” Parham recalled thinking, laughing at a table along with Penny ahead of the “Black Twitter: A People’s History” premiere at SXSW in March.
“Being a writer is very solitary process,” Parham said, comparing it to a television writers room or production team. He was nervous at first — he serves as executive producer on he series — but describes working with Penny as “pure collaboration from the very beginning.”
