Batwoman: What Happened to Kate Kane? (2021)
The new Batwoman is a step up from the previous actress
I know Ruby Rose was popular in Orange, but as Kate Kane I found her performance to be lackluster and dull. Like she was just putting in the time.
Javicia's performance at least had some emotion and range to it. As was stated previously, the character of Ryan is still learning the suit, and is coming to terms with her life. I'm going to watch and see how the show and the character grows. I would, however, like to see a new villain and get rid of Alice. She's become annoying.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
Getting somewhat better
I watched the first episode and it was horrible. I made myself watch a few more, and it is getting better. It's still moronic and nobody on that ship, from Ensign to Captain, would have actually graduated Starfleet Academy. It's sort of Star Trek as done by the Simpsons.
Cloak & Dagger (2018)
When is something going to happen?
I've watched all 3 episodes that have aired so far. I understand that with a new series people who have not read the comic have to get to know the characters. After 3 episodes of nothing but soul searching and showing they are not perfect people with perfect lives, it's time to move on and pick up the pace.
Lost in Space: Impact (2018)
Not your Daddy's Lost in Space
I have a few issues with this episode. First, it's so cold a lake freezes almost instantly, yet they all sit around in parkas comfortably. No fire, no heat source, no frosty breath etc.
Next is the flashbacks. They seemed to be tossed in randomly and had nothing to do with what is happening to the Robinsons. At times it felt like I should check my TV to see if the channel changed.
I've only watched episode 1, and I know pilot episodes are not the best to judge an entire series on. I'm also curious to see how they handle Dr. Smith. Parker Posey has to make it her own because no one could match Jonathon Harris in that role in the same way.
The Orville (2017)
Thoughts on The Orville
All in all I like The Orville. I think it is Star Trekish without being Star Trek. The crew is a bit more irreverent than Picard or Kirk would have allowed, but again, it's the Union not the Federation.
My one suggestion is to stop with the bickering about the marriage. That got real old quickly in the first episode.
I like what I've seen of The Orville a lot better than I did the Encounter at Farpoint with Star Trek: The Next Generation. The characters seem to mesh better.
