O Brother, Where Art Thou? follows the story of three escaped convicts; Everett (George Clooney), Pete (John Turturro), and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson). Mirroring the story of Odysseus in the Odyssey by Homer, these characters must face the most prolific of villains such as the Sirens and the cyclops. Slapstick performances from George Clooney and John Turturro bring to life the comedic aspect of a tragic story that involves betrayal, death, and fantasy. The masterful direction by the Coen Brother brought to life the challenges and difficulties that Odysseus had to go through to eventually be with his loved ones. Using humor and a charming cast, they were able to make the story their own and make a sort of parody of Homer's novel. Although there were times where I was confused with the direction that the story was taking, and how the dark humor did not always hit the mark, it is a fun adventure story that needs to be watched. Overall, the charming cast and direction from the Coen Brothers, make this a George Clooney staple and classic.
