Venom (2018)
A solid film, but nothing amazing
Ok, so with all of the mixed reviews on this film, I thought that maybe I should write a review for once.
So Venom basically follows a guy named Eddie Brock who is fired from his journalism job because he strayed off during an interview, bringing up controversial topics with a major science company. He then sneaks in with one of the workers to figure out what's going on. At this point in the movie, (I will warn you because I wasn't warned and I have a small degree of epilepsy) there is an intense sequence with flashing lights and colors and sounds. A cool sequence, definitely adds to the film, but just a surprise. Eddie Brock then bonds with the symbiote known as venom, which was brought back from space by the science people.
It definitely is an action packed movie, and it pushes the limits of PG-13 ratings. A few F bombs and some graphic (but awesome) violence.
The relationship between Eddie and Venom is easily my favorite part of the film. It's almost funny how they act together and how out of place Eddie is in all of this.
My main problem with the movie is the villain. I forgot his name, to be honest, but he's played by Riz Ahmed. He just didn't seem right for the role. Although Riot was a very cool symbiote as well, and the film left up something cool in a post credit scene hunting to Carnage, this was the weakest part of the film.
I would NOT reccomend taking a child to see this movie, it's very intense at some parts and scary at others. If your kid is over 12/13 they should be fine, but even then it depends on the child. Overall, I would give Venom a 7.5/10 but I rounded down just because of the villain, who just wasn't well written.-cj
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Biggest Let-Down of 2017
Let me first say this, I don't usually write reviews for movies, but with all the toxicity and hate going around I figured I would. Let's face it, TLJ was a terrible film, there's no going around that. And no, I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon, I actually saw this movie openin night and hated it from the first time I saw it. The pacing was so bad that my heart murmur is more steady. Big payoffs set up in Force awakens were tossed aside for a one-off joke that wasn't even funny. Overall, this movie is not worth the price of a rental. 4/10
Black Panther (2018)
Overall a good film
SPOILER: I went into Black Panther with very low expectations, seeing as how I didn't really like him in Civil War. I was happy to see this movie was a good one. It is overrated (just a tad) but overall it's pretty damned good.
Dislikes
So, the CGI is a bit heavy at times, almost drawing away from the experience, especially the larger battle sequence near the end with the rhinos.

The casting was great. Boseman was phenomenal, with his costar Michael B Jordan. Also, Letitia Wright as Shuri was astounding, I really loved her performance, and people who were saying the "what are those" joke was cringey, ya it was, that's kinda the point. But do keep in mind this movie takes place in 2016, when that trend was popular.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Unique and Fresh. Tarantino has done it again!
I was very skeptical going into this movie, but was thoroughly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The signatures of Tarantino are all featured in this film, from amazing dialogue to over the top action, language, and violence! I personally loved this movie, though it did feel a little dragged out at times, overall it's worth a viewing
Far Cry 4 (2014)
Best Game in years
Ubisoft, you mad bastards you've done it again. Far Cry 4 is oficially one of my favorite games of all time. The story is so intriguing, and the action is unique with lots of styles. I love this game, and I really hope you do too. I will not give spoilers, but this truly will stand the test of time.
