Red Dead Redemption II (2018)
The GOAT
Hands down the best game ever made. It's fun, it's immense, it's full of heart, it's funny, it's sad, it's exciting.
There are many great westerns but nothing as vast as Red Dead Redemption 2. The writing is perfection. The actors absolutely crushed it. Visually, it's unbelievably gorgeous.
Forget Mario, Sonic, Zelda and all the others, for now and forever the greatest video game character is Arthur Morgan.
You can play through the game time after time and the game will never play through the same way twice.
They might be similar but every time I play, I always find something new to enjoy.
I have a hard time playing other games now because nothing else compares.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adar (2022)
Didn't feel very Tolkien like
So much of the writing in this episode didn't feel like something you'd find in world of Tolkien.
For instance, i found that the squabbling the we see between the Númenóreans and Halbrand felt totally forced and doesn't make much sense, and the parts of Nori getting in trouble from all of the rule breaking felt like something from an after school special or a 90s teen drama. I was half expecting Zach Morris to pause time and comment on the drama at hand.
The Elves and Orcs scenes were the most compelling parts of the episode but the Warg didn't feel like it would be all that formidable and should've been more easily handled by the elves.
Wasn't the worst writing I've ever seen from a fantasy series but didn't feel worthy of the world of Tolkien.
