Thought I was going to hate it
1 March 2024
When something like Atlantis showing their existence to humans and sharing all of their technology in any way they can help human kind happens in your movie, then of course I'm going to love it. Narration says humans and Atlanteans are working together to solve any climate crisis. Not that I'm big into all that stuff, however, the idea of it was a positive theme that I was happy to see.

The movie and actors seem very vulnerable in a lot of their performances with these portrayals of these characters with family members being endangered and the emotions that would come with that. Sometimes it makes for a remarkable scene you've never seen before and others it makes for one in which can be "cringe worthy." I hate that word, but that's exactly how I felt haha.

Still, I've never seen anything like this and as someone who's read a LOT of the aquaman comics I love this portrayal of these characters. They very loosly adapted the drowned earth story and I think it was told even better than in the comic which had way too much stuff going on.

The first movie was an adaptation of a New 52 Aquaman story. They have an animated version of that comic called Throne of Atlantis. The Justice League is there in both of those stories but obviously they aren't going to be in the live action. I recommend that movie for sure!

Taking this movie for what it is it's unique and I'm so happy it exists. Definitely original too! I'm not sure why people hated on it so much reviews really don't make sense to me these days. Goodness me, does everything have to be perfect for the community to enjoy it?

Almost didn't watch this because of the reviews! Watch it!

Wow, what a great movie! It was better than I expected and I couldn't believe how gripping it was. Put it on during a lazy day while planning to lay down and take a nap. 15 minutes later I wasn't laying down anymore and was sitting straight up quite literally on the edge of my seat all the way to the end! I haven't seen too many good movies that use this area as the background of the movie. It brings a dangerousness that you would think you would feel being in a warzone like this.

Just, what a ride. It was a good movie and well acted through and through. It begins good and as it goes up it amps up more and more when an unexpected leak gets out.

They're was one plot they didn't wrap up and I'm not sure if they did that to set up a sequel or just didn't want to focus on that aspect of the movie, but the main plot was so intriguing I almost forgot about the subplot.

I looked at some of the reviews and it's insane what people say about this! Does every aspect of their lives suck and it bleeds into their reviews? Do they expect all movies to be absolutely perfect? I just don't get it and after the work they put in to make this they deserve better. It's almost offensive even though I know it's not personal or anything. What was so bad about it? How was the plot convoluted? It was pretty straightforward and was cool too. What don't you understand about what caused them to have to leave? Just take it for what it is when you watch movies. Stop comparing it to other things and enjoy the ride. One hell of a ride too!

Also, never let reviews decide whether or not to watch a movie. They have to be unanimously bad and even then if it's something you're interested in you'll probably be surprised and enjoy yourself.

So happy I stumbled on this at the library and took the time to watch it!

Want the Sequel
21 January 2024
I love the idea of the group of soldiers who are broken and crazy. The "Looneys" they call themselves and rightfully so. I watched the making of the movie and it seems like everyone was having so much fun on set and it wasn't surprising because it makes it through in the acting. They all have this chemistry that was refreshing to see.

Man, I can't imagine where the sequel would have went, but it was definitely setting one up.

Me and my brother saw this and had a great time. I showed him the reviews of everyone bitching about it and they have some good points, but a 1 out of 10? Good lord you're emotional. Get a rag and change your review to a 5 at the least.

True, it's not as scary as it could have been I'll give you that one, but it was definitely something new and could have been much worse. There was a lot of hard work done to make this come to life. I'd watch the sequel day one.

Surprising!

A DC character used as a look into masculine traits of men that aren't often addressed in society today. This is a character that never suppressed any of those traits and it shows the consequences of what happens and the type of life that it could lead to but on an exaggerated scale.

I was impressed by the story it told and the animation was great. Much better than I expected.

A shame they never made a sequel!
1 August 2018
One of my favorite movies that was just different from all the others that came out at the time.

It's never too late to make the next one! It would hold bring attention to this one too.

Starts weak but gets better and better throughout

Man, if your up for an old school revenge movie then this is it. The best part of this movie is the partnership between Stan (Travolta) and Dennis (Meloni). The banter between the two is just spot on and hilarious. As the movie goes on it really feels like these two have a past and are syncing back up into their old ways. Stan tries to keep Dennis out of it at first but, when Dennis keeps pushing Stan let's him in on the mission and it feels organic.

Of course there's some cheesy moments in this movie but, suprisingly there aren't as many as you would expect.

I know I wasn't expecting too much from this movie and ended up loving it.

My only problem with the movie is there's a significant death around the end of the movie that has no emotional reaction from any characters at any point. I kept waiting to see a funeral or a freak out but it was like the person killed just didn't exist. It was strange.

Well worth the watch.

Can't believe people hate it so much
23 July 2017
It's not perfect just like any movie but, there's some good old school titan nostalgia here and there. The way Trigon was shown when he takes form is okay but, it doesn't live up to the characters power and how unstoppable he can be. Not to mention they never fight the JL, just one at a time and only a few. I was hoping to see Robin vs Batman, Raven(or Starfire) vs Wonder Woman, stuff like that. So the title is misleading and that's annoying. However, that doesn't stop everything from being great.

I really loved it when Beast Boy looks sick for a second and then learns how to morph into all the animals of that world(or that he was near maybe). After that he uses the new forms to take out plenty of other things attacking them and that's the other thing. The action in this movie was just phenomenal.

Perfect portrayal of the New 52 versions
19 February 2017
Except Deathstrokes portrayal was WAYYY of but I still loved him here. Was a perfect villain. New 52 is my favorite timeline ever. Best five years of D.C.! Don't get annoyed by robins attitude because it's exactly the way he was in the comics. And as much as I love Jason Omara, his voice acting could use more expression. I don't want him to stop voicing Batman though. One of the best Batman voices ever if you ask me.

Finally a Court of Owls movie!
19 February 2017
Could you imagine if they made a live action version of this movie? Robin continues to struggle with his father's lifestyle and no kill rule. When it's Alan from the court of owls confront him about it and says killing is the Right Way, Robin becomes confused about which path is right for him. Good movie for fathers and sons to watch together or for any Batman and Robin fan alike. Don't get annoyed by Robins attitude for he is portrayed exactly the way he is in the comics

Pure greatness.
19 February 2017
Judging by the reviews for Son of Batman, Batman vs Robin and this movie, it's like people are in the mood to hate something and just so happen to watch this with that attitude. Like they got in the 'haters mood' and then someone said wanna watch Batman? Oh something to hate! They subconsciously think...

Such a great movie. Just like with ANY movie it has a few problems here and there but I didn't hardly notice unless I really looked.

What a great idea to make a movie set on Nightwing and the Bat-family rather than Batman himself for the thousandth time. I loved the new perspective and the amount of characters. Can't miss this one as it introduces Batmen and Batwomen into the universe that haven't ever been given their own movie, let alone show up in the animated universe at all. Brings the first movie to a closed circle also. Pure greatness. Don't miss it.

Super Realistic, grounded portrayal of many characters
19 February 2017
Put yourself in any humans shoes with a literally unstoppable alien coming to live on your planet. He may be on your side but anything can change and this Isn't SET IN A UNIVERSE WHERE EVERYONE HAS SUPERMAN COMICS. They have no idea who he is or what the word "hero" even means. Just like the people of today.

Easy to see why Supes doesn't like Batman. Easy to see why Batman doesn't like supes.

And it wasn't a dream it was a parallel universe. What superman could have been had Lois Lane died. A bit from the Injustice Gods Among Us story line.
