The Mosquito Coast (2021)
Melissa George is awful
It begins very believable but then you start to realize it's all a sham and Melissa George confirms this show is a joke. Her performance ruined it for me.
Hacksaw Ridge (2016)
Very good, but flawed
I was skeptical going into this film, not understanding how a soldier could enlist in the army without picking up a gun. The film convinced me and made me believe. When Doss says, "I don't know how I'm going to live with myself if I don't stay true to what I believe" I felt that. I think everyone felt that, and understood where he was coming from. Then, later in the film, he is faced with a decision: does he go against what he believes, and go to work on the sabbath? He does. He went against everything he "believes in." At first, I thought he would be consistent and not go back into battle, and the other soldiers would follow suit. It would have earned a much higher rating, but still, it is overall a good film and much respect for Desmond Doss. Also, I understand this is based on true events. The review remains.
Us (2019)
Don't let yourself be disappointed
Started off very intriguing, turned into a joke and became hard to even watch. Best part of the whole movie is the soundtrack, and that still could have been better. Love Jordan Peele but this isn't it.
The Hunt (2020)
So much better than expected
It took me a while to watch this based on reviews and all the political nonsense, but I am so happy I changed my mind. One of the most entertaining movies I've seen in the last year. While there are political undertones and references, they're not over played and it adds to the entertainment. I highly recommend this movie. It's good for some laughs, and isn't light on the action.
Arthur et les Minimoys (2006)
It was so close, but I'm left asking myself: why?
Regarding the "Sword in the Stone" theme, why does the person who finally pulls out the sword, not get the sword? Once that happened, I lost all interest. It's illogical, and we all know logic does not need to apply to entertainment, but then why even incorporate that theme? Also the "real footage" versus cgi was questionable from the beginning. Make up your mind, you can't have both. But seriously it took 1000 years to free that sword and it's just given up to the person who could never wield it in the first place? That's absurd!
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Great movie, ruined by Halle Berry
Might be the best of the John Wick series, but Halle Berry was unbearable.
