The Mist (2017)
Very cheesy
I was horribly mistaken by choosing to watch this in a lazy rainy day. WOW it is so cheesy. Stereotypical characters and horrible acting. I hope these actors aren't this bad in other works they do. It was so cheesy! There was no character development beyond the first episode. And all of a sudden they are in different places and everyone's working together despite them first disliking each other for no reason lol Literally the first 5 seconds of looking at someone and they dislike them. Just to add to the tension of the storyline is so stupid. Some army man just waking up on the woods, some looney woman into what seems to be criminal activity, typical teenage angst, cops being tough, etc. Men not taking action and people stepping up to help the weak woman. Ugh. The daughter's acting is so bad. I hope she gets acting lessons. Maybe she was just as bored with the show as us and didn't care to act well lol Stopped watching 25 mins into the second episode.
High Life (2018)
Love this
I read the bad reviews and I chose to decide for myself and I'm really happy I ignored them. I LOVE Robert Pattinson in everything he does. He is HIGHLY underrated in the film world. He is kind of like Tom Cruise. He'll be around forever. Most of what he is in is dark and/or gritty, emotional and entertaining. He is such a fantastic actor. You really feel every emotion the director wants to explore. I love space movies and I hope it wouldn't disappoint me. It's not like Gravity or those big budget films, like Interstellar. This is so weird and quirky and dives into the human experience. One scene of violence I did not like, but I skipped past it. You don't really take anything away from this movie except that Robert is an exceptional actor. And Hollywood needs to take way more notice of him.
L'Affaire Fourniret: Dans la tête de Monique Olivier (2023)
Hate dubbing
I don't understand why Netflix puts out shows that have two languages dubbed over each other!!! You and understand anything being said because you trying to focus on one language but can hear two. What is Netflix doing? So many great shows on the streaming service but it is horrible trying to watch and I end up having to just stop watching after 20 minutes. I wish the producers would start listening to the viewers complaints and start changing the formatting for the audio. It's really annoying to want to watch the show but being so annoyed that you just can't. I have ADHD too so I find it very hard to focus on it.
Elvis (2022)
Could have been better
Okay I was so excited to see this movie and I can't even watch more than 30 minutes. I even fast forward five to ten minutes at a time to see if it was change. What a horrible movie. Elvis deserved so much more! I thought is would do Elvis justice like Bohemian Rhapsody did for Mercury. Boy was a wrong. It is all over the place! It isn't a linear story at all, it's like an acid trip on PCP. So disappointed. So many amazing singers that just got 15 second moments. It's like the director tried too hard to be different. But the thing with biographical movies is people WANT the story of their beloved artist. We don't want bits and pieces and random flashes of stuff that don't matter. We want evolution and emotion. Not some shroom trip. Austin does a great job. He deserved more than this movie.
Pamela, a Love Story (2023)
Wow
Okay. I always loved Pamela Anderson. So when the Pam and Tommy show came out I had to watch it, and I know she hated it, and maybe the story wasn't exactly how it all went down, I loved it because you really got to see how women are treated so unfairly. And now with this documentary I couldn't wait. And I have to say, I cried like six times. Her resilience and love for her family and so loving and caring and not allowing men to treat her anything less than the wonderful person she is is amazing to watch. Every woman needs to see this. Every woman treated wrongly by a man needs to know she deserves to leave. I love her love for animals as I am an animal lover too. Her love for Tommy is how I feel about my ex (who is an actual horrible criminal) but has left an emptiness much like hers. But she allows me to see I'm better than that loss. Her sons love her so much, and I as a single mom can understand that love. And wow! Her sons are exactly like Tommy!!! They even sound like him. Amazing. It is a must watch.
Criminal Minds (2005)
Amazing
Okay honestly, with so many reboots coming up these days I was EXTREMELY hopeful Evolution would live up to the original show, and I've come to a conclusion that the reboot is even BETTER than the original. I hope and pray they continue to make these awesome episodes! And they BETTER do another season if they do. I do miss Reid, a lot, I really wish Matthew would come back even for a few guest episodes. And Shamar too! We can only hope. But I'm so relieved the show is so good and anyone who says differently is so wrong lol I love how they show the closeness to the characters this time around. Love yous and hugs all around this time. Prentiss and JJ are badass! And Rossi? Oh well he's just the icing on the sweet little cakes served by Garcia! The bad ass in her own right. Love love love to the case who came back because you all are awesome!
The Pale Blue Eye (2022)
Good watch
I love period piece movies. And since I'm an admirer of Poe I especially enjoyed this one. I don't know why it is getting such bad reviews. It's a good watch. It's nothing fancy, which makes it even better. Movies are so big big bigger these days, it's refreshing to see a simpler movie. The speech of the time period has inspired me to do more writing. No body speaks like that anymore that's for sure. But it's what makes movies like these so wonderful as well. Bale is great in this as he is in almost everything he does. The actor who plays Poe is great too. This is a good movie for a lazy day at home or sick day.
The Midnight Club (2022)
I am in love with this show
I binged all the episodes in three days. I was sceptical at first. But the whole story mixes so well with all the characters storylines and the made up stories they tell at midnight. It doesn't seem like it, but this is a tearjerker sometimes. I teared up every episode. The show is quirky and funny and spooky and touching all at once. I can see how some people found it cheesy, lol, but when you peel the onion, so to speak, there are so many layers to the plot. It is a teen show, so it isn't gonna be as scary as some would think. But it's refreshing in a way. New and old combined. Not to mention the soundtrack to this show is definitely one I'm gonna try to find on Spotify. I recommend you give it a chance. And definitely watch up to episode 3 to really get a feel for what the director and writers are trying to convey. You need more backdrop before you judge this one. Enjoy!
Mi Encuentro con El Mal (2022)
Annoying subtitles
I wish Netflix would start doing dubbing over non-English shows. I don't speak any other language. It's very hard to understand what they're saying because they have the cast speaking Spanish but when I tried to put the English subtitles on, you can hear both languages at the same time. I can't focus on what they're saying. I have ADHD too so understanding these subtitles are extremely difficult for me to understand. It's seems like a great show too. I didn't think it would be re-enactments though. Thought it would be only interviews and normal documentary formats. But the acting is bad, it's like they can't figure out what this show should be. Ugh. So many shows I want to enjoy on Netflix but the voices are always so low, music is ALWAYS too loud over voices. But I'm so disappointed because I love these types of documentaries but I can't focus on it so unfortunately I gotta stop because the voice overs sucks.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Not that good
I watched this movie and I found it difficult to watch because Bale's take on Batman was over the top for me. I HATED the voice he used. It was distracting to me. Because I know how Bale sounds, and Batman never sounded like that, and it was not a good character trait. I love the Batman movies, but this one is annoying. I can't bare to rewatch like I have the other movies. It's painful. I still haven't seen The Batman with Pattinson, but I pray he does a better job. Bales' take just didn't sit right with me. Every time he spoke I was like ugh, so cheesy. Like they tried too hard to make the movie different. Well. It was. Thanks to Heath Ledger. He saved the film in my opinion. He definitely took the role we love and made it so deeply emotional. I love Bale, he is an amazing actor, I blame the director. He should have said um, not a chance Bale. Sometimes less change is more. Everytime a movie is made or remade they have to make it so different from previous films. Why?! I guess I'm too nostalgic for these films being made over and over. I like continuing the movies in the same style. So if you like change, you'll love this, but if you're stuck in the old ways like myself, it'll be a disappointment.
Monster (2022)
Great
I didn't know Evan Peters was in this and as soon as I saw his face, I was like okay, this is already a great show. He was so AMAZING in American Horror Story. He really is a star. Oscar worthy actor. He'll make it there someday. There's just something innocent with his face, but then in his eyes and voice you can really see how he just dominates a character. I will watch anything this guy is in because he is amazing. Like Johnny Depp or Tom Cruise amazing. I hope to see him on the Oscar stage. But for now, I hope he gets an Emmy for this. He just truly embodies every role he is in. I am obsessed with crime documentaries so after watching so many about Dahmer, he really portrays him the way he is. A monster, but a damaged child inside.
House of Gucci (2021)
Loved Gaga
The only good thing about this movie was Lady Gaga. Leto was of course excellent, but I thought he had a much bigger role by the way the movie was advertised. I was let down on this one. Just because it's Gucci, doesn't make it good. Just like their fashion prices, this movie was way overpriced lol.
Can't Buy Me Love (1987)
A classic
I love this movie. I still watch it every now and then. Classic 80s teen comedy. Just the right amount of cheese, comedy, and 80s teen movie cliches. It's a great rainy Sunday movie. Or just a pick me up to the old days of love.
Moonfall (2022)
Boring
I hoped this movie would be a decent lazy Sunday watch, but it isn't. It's so cheesy and cliché. Obviously the premise is ridiculous anyway, but I gave it a shot. For two major stars I figured it would be okay. But even Chris and Halle were bad in this.
The Adam Project (2022)
It's like Ryan can't do no wrong
So everyone knows Ryan Reynolds's is usually in these funny, sarcastic roles. But seriously, this guy can't go wrong. I hope he breaks out into more dramatic roles because this guy is on the way to an Oscar. And honestly, I don't want anyone else besides him for this sassy characters lol He delivers his comedy so precise it's crazy. This movie is a kids action movie, just some added adult humour. It's a good watch. The perfect pick me up for those lazy rainy days.
Family Matters (1989)
Love it
I'm 42 years old. This show started when I was 9, and I still watch reruns sometimes. (Actually I am now lol). It's a classic family sitcom. I honestly started my love of black culture watching these shows. Urkel makes the show. It is a funny family show. And ya gotta love Urkel.
Yellowjackets (2021)
Awesome show!
I was on the fence sometimes watching this, but couldn't stop! Binged in two days. The actors and actresses were awesome. If it didn't come together as it did it probably would have flopped. I'd recommend to judge for yourself.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Boring
I dunno why directors have to insert blaring noises just to scare people. It's so old now. The stupid religious hymns during the show is really annoying. Such a boring story.
Ozark (2017)
Great show
There are shows that come along and just blow your mind-hole with such great characters and storylines. I love the shock value of tv and movies. You never know what will happen in this show. Definitely gotta pay attention to this show. So much happens so fast. Love it. Enjoy!
The Serpent (2021)
Awesome show
I was really surprised at how good this show is. The actresses and actors were amazing. It kept me from playing Scrabble on my iPad as I usually do with boring shows, but not this one! I was so focused on it that it surprised me because I've seen such rubbish lately I had my doubts. Watch this show, it is very suspenseful and loved all the characters. Enjoy!
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Decent
Storyline was a good concept, but still some scenes and lines were cheesy and cliché. Acting was okay, minus the cheesy lines. Enjoyable to watch when you can't find anything else.
Alien Code (2018)
Okay
I thought it was gonna be a low budget movie, and I was right, but it started out quite interesting, and then after about an hour it fizzled. I found myself on my phone not paying attention much. Good try though. Like the whole idea but I think it could have been better if it had a higher budget.
Being the Ricardos (2021)
Thought it would be more exciting
I love Nicole Kidman, but is her face full of Botox or was that makeup effects to look like Lucy? It was so slow, not a very good biopic. But a decent watch on a lazy day.
Night Hunter (2018)
Pretty good
This movie had way more potential than it was given. Kinda lagged, but the points that were thrilling happened too fast and weren't detailed. It was a good lazy sick day afternoon movie.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Eh
It's a Netflix movie so that should explain it. Kinda boring, but enough to keep you interested. Probably won't ever watch it again, so for me, that says it all as I've watched my faves dozens of times. But it was a decent movie for a lazy afternoon.
