Windfall (2022)
Pointless "Thriller"
This is not a thriller, there is no comparison to Hitchcock here. I'm not sure how I'd categorize this movie, but it was unfulfilling and empty, leaving several unanswered questions.
What's with the constant shoe tying? Just to set up a ridiculous ending?
Did this guy ever really work for him or was he simply a random drifter?
What's the point of the foot tattoo reveal? Who cares.
Who put the tree camera in and why?
If Husband is cheating on Wife, why doesn't she get a divorce?? Husband mentions wanting a better pre-nup, so obviously she'd get her due share by leaving him.
I will say the acting was good and I wanted to get invested in these characters, but the pace was slow and the dialog gave nothing to drive the story forward. It all just felt empty.
Hate to say, but 3/10.
In from the Cold: An Old Friend (2022)
Writing is getting worse
Dude, just take your jacket off if you don't want to get splatted.
Getting really sick and tired of the daughters story line. Episodes are starting to drag on.
The Ice Road (2021)
PETA, we have a problem
Fun popcorn flick....but can we get a bigger cage for the rat? I felt claustrophobic watching him.
Recommend!
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Poor Decision Netflix
So this docuseries boils down to a message of highlighting a medical disorder mixed with the desire to help the homeless.
There is a centralized focus on YouTube "web-sleuths", which are in fact the actual problem. These are the bullies and the creeps, which destroys countless lives with a click. Shame on Netflix for highlighting and grandizing their existence.
Rust Creek (2018)
Above expectations
It's predictable, it's unoriginal, but damn if it didn't hook me in. Actually one of the better movies I've watched where you don't have to invest or care too much.
The main actress and the guy playing Lowell just blew me away - great acting can save a mediocre plot.
Worth a watch for sure!
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020)
So I think this documentary has changed my life
I rather enjoy watching documentaries about the planet or space exploration, but until now I've simply watched them with a reserved grandeur of the world around us.
After listening to Mr. Attenborough tell his story, I feel like it's my obligation as a human being to make changes happen now. Not only for my own well being, but that of my children and grandchildren.
This documentary has really given me the ammunition to make impactful changes and open my mind to the world around me. I cannot thank him enough for opening my eyes.
The Last House on the Left (1972)
Garbage
This is a mess. Not as violent or gory as I expected (I spit on your grave is much much more visceral and unsettling), but the writing is a joke and the music makes no sense. Is this a comedy or thriller or what?? Not sure what people enjoy about this.
