Stopmotion (2023)
Waste of time and money
I rented this on Fandango today...waste of money. I was so disappointed. I went into it not knowing anything about it, as I like to do with all horror movies. I won't post any spoilers for anyone but I just want to warn you that this is only 93 minutes long and I felt like it was 2 times that long. By the end I was counting down the minutes for this to end. Some people stated they understand what the movie was going for, but I didn't. Maybe that's why I was just over it. I'm a huge horror movie fan so I won't lie, I get disappointed by bad movies easily. Don't go in with high hopes of a scary or even a good movie. The only reason it isn't getting 1 star is because I liked the stop motion.
Mean Girls (2024)
Fun but didn't hit
So this movie really tried but the downside is you can see and feel how hard they tried. Let me explain. They wanted to have the feel of the original but still make it feel like 2024, after all, there's a big different between the times lf the original and the musical. The musical part was fun...sometimes. Some of these actors/actresses just weren't good at singing. I adored Karen's ditzy side in the original but I just couldn't like her character in this one. Same with Regina, she was the ultimate mean girl in the original. In this remake I felt like she just couldn't reach that level. The look and feel of the whole movie is a little off. Just don't go in with high hopes and you'll have a fun time! I think I made a mistake by comparing every scene to the original but I love the original and I was just so excited for this version! 6 stars for making me feel nostalgic but -1 star for making me leave the theater disappointed.
Heilstätten (2018)
Hoping for it to get better
The movie could've been good. The storyline was good. I watched it in English and that's where a big mistake was made. The English voice actors are so bad, especially for the girl Betty. Hers was so bad I hated every scene she was in. I tried switching to the original language but unfortunately this streaming service didn't have the option. It wasnt scary either but I really feel like watching in the original language could've helped the atmosphere a lot. The voice overs made everything, even the screams, just terrible sounding. I also never connected with a single character personally. It's ok to skip this one, you're not missing much.
Barbarian (2022)
Disappointed, seriously
I absolutely love horror films and this one received so much praise that I couldn't wait to watch it. I feel betrayed. This movie was long and slow. I don't mind movies that start slow if they get good but this movie is not that. The beginning had promise and then it all went downhill. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen but it's pretty low on the totem pole. I liked the acting so that is a plus! I just dont understand how people vould say this was a scary movie. What scene scared people? I truly cant figure out what scene was scary throughout the whole movie. Overall a waste of time for me. I don't recommend if you like horror.
To Jennifer (2013)
Felt long and boring
This movie felt really long and boring. I love horror movies and I do enjoy found footage movies. This was disappointing. The whole movie 3 guys yelled at each other and nothing happened. The guys were all unlikable too. I truly didnt care if any of them died. The ending couldn't even redeem this movie. Especially when his friend literally walks through the house yelling "did you kill Martin?" That was the most unbelievable part. He didn't call the cops he just randomly walks through someone's house yelling and he knew they were home too so it's just weird. I chose to watch this movie because it was over 5 stars and I know horror movies are harshly judged. This was just bad though. I wasted my time. Yes, it's cool that they filmed it using an IPhone but they could've wrote a better movie.
Radium Girls (2018)
Terrible and I was excited!
I just watched a 25 minute video about the radium girls on YouTube yesterday and I was so sad yet fascinated. I found this on Netflix and was excited to learn more about this tragedy. This movie was just horrible! They talked like they were in the 2020s, not the 1920s, the movie didn't even describe what these poor girls went through! Did you know their story contributed to the creation of OSHA? The girls went through this ordeal with the court for years also! Radium reeked havoc on their bodies, not just bruises! A little bit of research will teach you more than this movie. The whole movie had such few historical facts and was just slow. I'm so disappointed. I learned more from a 25 minute YouTube video. Don't waste your time.
Emily in Paris (2020)
It's just an enjoyable little show
I'm not sure why so many people don't like this show. Its
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
I'm so disappointed and heartbroken
I was so excited for this movie! I actually enjoyed Suicide Squad and couldn't wait to see Margot become bada$$ Harley again. Ugh me and my friend left the theater disappointed! I rarely say I'm disappointed in a movie. I was so hyped for a funny action like female Deadpool! That would've been great! There's like one scene that made us laugh. Maybe the next one...I'll hold on to hope!
Cheer (2020)
Amazing
This is such a great docu-series to show the hard work these cheerleaders put it. I love how real it feels showing the ups and downs and the hardships of this sport. These teams deserve so much more recognition for their hard work. It's also crazy/scary to see how Varsity Spirit controls so much of what we see. It's like discovering a new sport and teams to love. You definitely fall in love with these kids and their stories.
Fire in Paradise (2019)
Heartbreaking
I was tearing up the whole time. It's a heartbreaking point of view from a few victims caught in the horrific "camp fire" fire. There's videos from phones and dash cans and I was on the edge of my seat and tearing up. I definitely recommend watching this.
Last Man Standing (2011)
Hilarious
I just discovered this show at my friend's house. We binge watched it and we could not stop laughing! Absolutely wonderful. It reminds me of the comedies from my childhood, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens and Friends. It has that welcoming feel to it. I definitely recommend it!
