Masters of the Universe: Revolution (2024)
An improvement over Revelation, but Smith still doesn't get He-Man.
For starters, Masters: Revolution is a vast improvement over the atrocious Revelation. It's perfectly clear that they listened to fan criticism, and tried to fix things.
But, it's also apparent that Kevin Smith does not like or get He-Man, as a character.
When Randor dies, he faces a false dilemma: will he lead as king or protect the people as champion. Why not both? This is challenged only by Man-at-Arms, briefly on one scene and dismissed just as quickly. On the other hand, Teela sets out to learn ALL the magicks (Zoar, Ka and Havok), even if their nature is contadictory.
When the city is attacked, he fights in a back alley to save a single boy, while the real battle happens on the main street. In Filmation, he would have done both. When Keldor appears, he takes his story at face value and even reliquinshes his crown, without a second thought or even a small inquiry. Even if it means that he accepts his father and grandfather as racists! In Filmation, he would have consulted his friends, at least.
Smith, still views He-man on DC terms, a child in a man's body, Shazam without the wisdom of Solomon.
And that's the problem, which was also the issue in Revelation. Smith sees Masters as an OR, magic or technology, lead or protect, monarchy or democracy. When it has always been an AND, Conan the Barbarian and Star Wars....
On that note, the city of Eternos never looked as a set from Xena in Filmation, it had always been a mixture of high tech AND medieval style in wonderful, bold colours.
And who cares for democracy in that setting, are going to see election fraud on the eternian primary, next?
Anyway, 5 for the sincere effort to fix the mess from Revelation, for the better characterization on everyone else (Teela, especially) and the good intentions.
Production values and art, excellent as the last time.
Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021)
Lack of Batman AND race-swapped Richard Dragon
Guest-starring Batman would have been more accurate, in this 70s martial arts - blaxploitation, done-to-death caper.
Also, Richard Dragon is white in the comics, but we can't have that in 2021, so enter Bruce Lee clone. So much better now! And original!
Just ,no.
Little Women (2019)
Pretentious and overbearing
Such a boring film!!!!
It's been done much better in the past and you can't help but wonder, if Greta Gerwig would be getting praise in any other time, than today.
It's a stretch to call her a director (directress???), but then it was a stretch to call her an actress, as well.
Shame for the cast, who did their best under the circumstances...
Only pink haired feminists with more than two cats, need pay the price of admission...
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
The Dark Crystal: Age of woke
You can't have Netflix, without the identity politics it seems. At least, they're consistent...
Should be 0, but lowest is 1.
Booksmart (2019)
Disgusting trash disguised as comedy
This is why Hollywood is failing...
Absolutely disgusting with unlikable characters.
Iron Fist (2017)
The true villain is the netflix production team
It is apparent that the Netflix production team doesn't want to do a series about Iron Fist, so why did they do it in the first place?
Season 2 was created to pave the way for Collin Wing to take the power so they made the lead character weak, ineffectual and whiny. Pure SJW feminist BS, that Netflix is so into these days...
If you were looking for a way out of your Netflix subscription, this is it. It was mine!!!!
Supernatural: Wayward Sisters (2018)
Thank God their show was cancelled!!!!
Love Supernatural,though.... 10 for the series, 1 for the episode!
