Ripley (2024)
Rooting for Ripley
I binge watched this series over the weekend. Black and white suited the mood. I loved the shots of dark New York and those of life in 60s Italy. None of the characters are sympathetic and even the cat is unsympathetic, so very early on, I found myself rooting for Ripley. As usual, Andrew Scott is excellent. Dakota Fanning and Eliot Sumner are perfectly suited to their roles and Maurizio Lombardi leads a list of Italian actors who bring great authenticity to the locations of Rome, Naples, Venice, etc. It's one of the most enjoyable series I've seen in years. A few years ago, I saw a similar French movie version "Plein soleil" which was one of Alain Delon's first roles and that was equally a great watch. Not sure if there could be a season 2 but would look forward to it.
