Primal: The Red Mist (2022)
Are we supposed to care about the clan who enslave people like it's nothing?
I don't think so.
Btw they are the one who tried to attack the protagonists first when they had done nothing.
So forgive me if I find it really hard to care about them.
Maybe I'm the only one.
The Third Day (2020)
Great first two episodes
Great first two episodes
...but the ending in the 3rd episode SUCKS hard!
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Gemini Man 2?
Stop killing recurring characters in the sequal!!! Unfortunately this seems to have become a fast and convenient tool of creating conflict in a sequal.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
2 stars for Mon Capitaine
Bad writing. Bad directing.
A bad case of trying too hard and the wrong way to be feminism.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Merder Carnival
This used to be my favorite show of all time. It still was up til the later part of Negan's storyline. Hell Negan was probably my favorite character of the show.
But then as we all know by now they went ahead and killed Carl, who to me was one ensential part of the show and the theme, to show how people become in this godforsaken world, in this case what a kid would grow up to be. And he is someone I cared a lot from the beginning too.
Then it dawned on me, the characters in the show are not real human anymore. They are just pawns for the writers' game, a random ingredient in their TWD formula. I know it sounds silly, cuz all characters are created in movies. I'm a writer myself so I know how it goes. But when it works, the characters are real to me.
However, the characters in TWD have degenerated from human to lad rats because they don't have their own purpose anymore. They don't live or die by their own character arcs. They fall into the TWD writing machine, where they would only live a happy life for a while just so when they get a horrible death 2 episodes later, the audience would feel extra sad for a moment, til the next one gets the same fate.
I don't mean to say no one should die in the show. But it's hard to care about anyone anymore, when you realize they only die because that's what the formula demands. In Episode 1 to 7, life is hopeful and better now! Then in Episode 8, winter break is coming so someone we care about has to die to keep us hooked til the new year, and so we get reminded this is the same cruel TWD we loved. How excting and ingenius!
By the way, it's not cruel anymore. It's just random and boring.
The only good thing is that it's ending soon I guess, so I can try to hold on to the good memories before the newer seasons ruin them all.
Black Mirror: White Bear (2013)
Unbearable
I feel sorry to say this, because I LOVED most episodes of the show, and I loved Lenora in Being Human.
This episode has a great setup too. It's just her performance was WAY OVER THE TOP for me. The consitant crying and screaming made it very hard for me to get into the story and characters.
It's okay to be extremely scared and confused in a story, but if all the character doing is crying and screaming, then all the crying and screaming loses its meaning, in my opinion anyway.
Aside from this, I still wanted to say, this is a WONDERFUL show, and I'm looking forward to seeing more great stories coming out.
