Beatriz at Dinner (2017)
bad ending
What's the point of it all? Discussions, arguments clash of cultures? Beatriz is so sad and depressed carrying the plight of the world and bad people all on her shoulders-- her character is just too heavy i believe she did kill herself but othere argue so did she or didn't she.
Was beatriz dead at the end? Did she kill herself?
La La Land (2016)
i cannot believe how bad this movie was given alll the hype!!
Where do i start? Te intro number was too long and sort of silly with drivers stuck on the road singing and dancing. The leads male and female are really bad at s singing and dancing-- true triple threats are not many and every actor cannot sing and dance when told to do so for a role. Emma s was exceptionally bad at singing. Very bad attempts to imitate the great musicals of the past with great singers and dancers. The musical numbers were too long or it seemed that way 'cause they were so bad.
After all the hype and accolades i was shocked by how bad this was. Last of all the acting and story line were so boring!!!
Inception (2010)
OT a masterpiece NOT even a good movie!!
This is an awful movie and pretentious by trying to make it so hard to understand it has to be explained. the entire concept is well, rather silly- i am always amazed why science fiction beliefs are lauded and supposedly intellectual-to me sci fi is the same as believing in any fantasy--fairies, the para normal even santa claus-- all illogical. this movie is a prime example of that.
Perry Mason: The Case of the Carefree Coronary (1965)
can someone PLEASE tell me the ending/the guilty party?
This was very good and different. I know it would be a real spoiler, but I dozed off and missed the last 5 minutes or so and don't know who did what??
Family Affair: The Substitute Teacher (1968)
No he does NOT develop a crush on her.
The real story is that both Mr. French and Uncle Bill THINK he has a crush on the new teacher. Played by June Lockhart (of Lassie tv show), Bill invites her for dinner. It turns out that she has a strong resemblance to their (dead) mother. Jody does not know this and says, in so many words, that he doesn't understand but feels like he want to be near her all the time. Bill show him a photo of their mother and..... It's quite touching.
This show is on reruns daily on Decades (following the Donne Reed show) and just saw this episode a about 2-3 weeks ago.
Father Dowling Mysteries (1989)
twin brother????
Father Dowling has a twin brother, BUT some decriptions say he is a half-brother. It's either o ne or the other-- twins can not be half brothers or vice versa.
Family Affair: All Around the Town (1967)
Wrong character name
Just finished watching the episode, All around the town Season 1 Episode 17. The character's name listed as Mr. Rodrigues" is wrong here, Jerado Decordovier ... Mr. Gonzalez. It is clearly heard, said several times. The name is MR. GARCIA.
Great Balls of Fire! (1989)
It's NOT the life of Jerry Lee Lewis 2-3 years in his life.
It's not a good movie at all not just because it's full of non facts. Dennis Quaid portrays JLL as a buffoon, hillbilly bumpkin who is an adult throwing spoiled child tantrums. His accent is so phony and sounds like he is mentally challenged. Parts of the movie made me wonder if the director realized they come off as parody.
Jersey Boys (2014)
I expected to like this movie
Being in my 60s and loving their music, I totally expected to really like it. What a disappointment! As I said to my companions when we were walking out out, "I must be the only person in the world who totally disliked this movie." Well, It's all hype and I fell for it, but am honest enough after the fact.
It was over dramatic-fake, the actors were awful, fake accents were obvious (especially V. Piazza-- over did it) and so much missing information (first recording contract, marriage date, daughter or daughters, year/age of her death?) The only date ever shown was 1990 when they were inducted into the R & R Hall of fame. I question the reality of any event they portrayed. The music was pretty bad, nothing close to the original, bad arrangements, and the lead actor sounded nothing like Frankie Valli-- he was too short, too greased up, and his voice was awful (I know he won a Tony-- so what). The only actor who was quite good is Erich Bergen, portraying Bob Gaudio.
The story was choppy and was a compilation of a bunch of "highlight?" incidents with lack of continuity or smooth changes from one to the other. It is hard to believe that this is work from the great Clint Eastwood.
