The Swarm (2023)
Intriguing, "nerdy" sci-fy story with a lot more potential
The Bad:
stiff and badly written dialogues, awkward voice acting, annoying accents that aren't even cliché like a lot of things in this adaption
The Good:
an intriguing story about a biological/environmental threat and how to deal with it (different than your standard zombie apocalypse show) with the right amount of nerdiness to my liking.
The portrayal of the story's philosophical/spiritual aspects was executed too cautiously, imho and deserves more focus.
By the way:
I hereby offer my services as voice acting coach for (German) actors.
Years of experience and a fine ear for subtleties. ;-)
The Last of Us: Infected (2023)
Promising, too hyped and somewhat overrated and with magical drying powers
Quite a neat job on displaying a dystopian Boston. The set design is well done but somewhat over the top. Moss and other overgrowth often looks too manicured and too bright -> just fake.
It's so good to see Anna Torv again. I loved her in Fringe.
So far I find the dialogues a bit cliché and stiff and the pacing somewhat bumpy: sometimes too slow and then often too rushed.
I don't get the criticism about Bella Ramsey - she's doing very well.
But am I the only one who is annoyed by continuity errors like wading through thigh deep water and a couple of minutes later their clothes are dry? I know, it is not real life, but please make it more credible.
From (2022)
Slow, quite boring and bad acting
Wayward Pines and Lost had great character development. From doesn't. Bad (over)acting.
The storyline drags terribly. Barely interesting enough to keep watching.
Don't mind if they cancel it.
Please do, actually.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
A question of taste
While the majority here disses Ellen Page, I couldn't stand to watch Sheehan. Had that in Misfits as well.
Prank Encounters (2019)
A new level of dumb
Overacting actors, bad make-up and why call it a collision when the two non-actors meet?
Come to Daddy (2019)
Time to change the rating system
So many times I watched a movie with bad reviews mainly rated by young people and it turned out I loved the movie.
Can YouTube somehow take into consideration to show ratings per generation or age range?
I'm tired of trolls with short attention spans having a major impact on ratings, using reviews as an outlet for their primary reactions. Most of their comments are immature, stupid or ignorant.
Yeah, c'mon hate on me. I bet this probably sounds like grumpy old man talk to you.
Let's just respect the fact that there is a generation gap and I'd like to be able to sort the ratings by age range.
